Am I right in thinking the milestones of flight exhibition is closed currently?
From RAFM Web Site
Milestones of Flight
Milestones of Flight will be closed between 26 – 28 Nov and week commencing 2 Dec to accommodate the new Typhoon
Train gets into King Cross 10.05 so I’ll be there from 1030/1100 so have a wander into the GWH building and try and find you all.
Brian
Interestingly (well, for anyone that’s into modern jets), the RAFM are replacing the mock up Typhoon in Milestones of Flight with a real one the week commencing 2nd December
I believe it is this one.

Mmmmm. I wonder where it’s parked:D
Brian
Can add my name as well now. Probably won’t get there until about 10.30/10.45 depending on trains and underground.
Should be able to get some better pictures than I got in the Science Museum last Staurday:D
Brian
Nice work Brian. Are you a technical Illustrator?
Thank you and no. I went to work for a firm of Architects when I left school and have just applied what I was taught there to drawing Aeroplanes. I started with scale drawings and then progressed to picture drawings.

Just a little something I have been working on for the last couple of weeks. Normally I do picture drawings on A3 but as I have not sat behind my drawing board for a couple of years now, digital photography got in the way, I have done this on A4 just to get my hand back in again.

Following the distraction of Christmas/New Year I finally got it finished and have put it in a temporary frame. Being more of an illustrator than an artist, I don’t do backgrounds.

Return of a ‘Finningley’ air show:rolleyes: 😀

James
Yes, Yes and Yes, Thank you, Yes.:D
Not losing another Spitfire as it is not resident in this country. It was only over here for a bit of TLC.
I shall be having another bimble around Duxford again this Friday:rolleyes:
Brian
Taken at Duxford in the ‘Super Hanger’ as it was known then. 18th October 1988.

Scanned from a photo.
Brian
Hopefully with some more test flying due later in the week (given the weather)
Hopefully Friday:D 😀 as I have the day off.

PEN PUSHER
I understand at an earlier event this year at Duxford five VLM Fokker 50s came in, did they all park on the grass if at all?
No, and I only remember seeing 2, and they went to the western end of the runway and parked on the hardstanding there.
Brian
ATR72 blocking the crowd line
Well it had to park some where so where else would it go, in front of the VIP tent?
It brought up 64 passengers and 4 crew up from the Channel Islands so should it been parked south of the runway with the other vistors?
Yes.
Both Dakotas brought passengers and they were moved.:D
Brian
Brilliant shots Brain like the 1st shot off BBMF (The Last) and the Spitfire formation shot and the Aurigny ATR 72 😀 was it doing a charter flight or have they started Passager service now from DUX:rolleyes: ? Was The Last the only BBMF aircraft as they dont her down on there website?
Regards
James
James
The Aurigny ATR 72 was there when I arrived and sat there throughout the show, blocking the crowd line view, and was still there when I left.
The Mk XIX BBMF Spitfire was there for the launch of the Haynes ‘Spitfire Owners Handbook’ and was used as a backdrop for a photocall.
Brian
Anyone know what time the gates open? Doesn’t seem to be on the website.
From the DX web site
The gates will open at 8am and the flying is expected to start at 1.20pm and finish at 4pm.
Brian
Doesn’t seem to have been much mention about this yet. Is it low key compared to the ones earlier in the year? I’m off down with the gf on sat and staying in a b&b. Looking forward to giving my new 30D/100-400mm setup a thorough workout! I’ve only been to Duxford once before, that was for the American show in summer…the aircraft seem to be quite a long way from the crowd line?
Maybe bump into some of you down there, just look for the 6’5″ northern monkey cautiously cradling his equipment.
