You will have to be quick.
Im painting it in the morning.
As long as it’s not before ten o’clock:D
Brian
My visit to Duxford tomorrow is back on so I will see what I can get for you.
If any one else is there and you see someone with a camera on a pole held up high, then it will probably be me.:D

According to The Spitfire Story by Alfred Price (Page 154) The ‘A’ and ‘B’ designations were ‘unofficially’ introduced by the squadrons, ground crews and pilots to differentiate between the Mk.IX with the new Merlin 66 (‘B’) introduced in 1943 and the Mk.IX with the standard Merlin 61s or 63s (‘A’) as there were no official designations issued with the fitting of the new engine.
Later in 1943, the Ministry of Aircraft Production introduced official designations and the Mk.IXA became the F.IXC and the Mk.IXB became the LF IXC but because the official documentation did not reach all the squadrons in time the unofficial designations of ‘A’ and ‘B’ remained as that was what everyone was used to.
Not sure if that helps.
Brian
There is village next to it called Long Marston or would that be too much of a clue:D
Brian
Possibly see you there, Brian.
Hopefully Rob, but as freezing fog is predicted for Friday I’ll be using public transport, not me motorbike, and hope the maniacs are not out on the A14:D
Brian
I’ll be going down on Friday and just hope it hasn’t been moved.:D
Brian
Another 3 of those and you can make a chair:D 😀 😀

Already had a last visit of the year planned for Saturday. Bet it is kept in its container though.
Brian
Slightly off topic but if there is a BAe sticker on the back then surely BAe own the copyright of the photograph and it is not theirs to sell on e-bay?.

The Victor, Comet and Varsity were parked in the overflow car park last week, I think it was, and the Varsity is now parked in the spot the Comet used to be in.
Is the Victor in the paint shop then?
It’s not in the paint shop, which is in Hanger 4, but in the restoration area at the front of the AirSpace hanger. The idea of the restoration area is, I think, that you can watch an airframe being stripped down over time, the parts then go to the paint shop, and then watch it being put back together then.
Brian
Very nice pics there, i think it would just be the victor in the restoration section of ‘airspace’ as the area is no way big enough for both a victor and a comet.
Good news on the 5% extra for the friends as the food is one of the high points now at Duxford instead of stopping at that little chef near Fowlmere yuck.
curlyboy
The Comet is in AirSpace, the restoration area is bigger than you think, and i did enjoy my sausage, beans and chips at lunchtime.

All the times I have been, Concorde has always been open and should be open this Saturday.
There is also a Lego Robotics Championship being held in the new school rooms this Saturday in the new AirSpace complex.

Beautiful, is all I can say Darren, Beautiful.
