As the gale force winds of the last few days had subsided and with the prospect of a bit of sunshine, I wasn’t expecting too much to be happening at Duxford this close to Easter. Apart from a lot of family visitors, the Fire Section were playing with their new Tonka toy as they put it through its paces and the glazing panels at the front of the American Air Museum have started to be removed. Inside hangar 4, the Autogyro has been moved across the walk way to make room for exhibits coming out of the AAM.

There was a similar Paddington Bear trail last year and as far as I’m aware, all survived unscathed.

I believe there is a hand pump in the cockpit to hydraulically raise/lower the wings in turn.

The Richard Lake pair spend a lot of time at Humberside Airport and only come to Duxford for maintenance and air shows.

My take on day’s flying.

There were a lot more snow movers outside AirSpace today and it definitely tempted fate as we had hail at lunchtime. Piccies later.:D

I use the Sony ‘Clear Image Zoom’ mode if I want extra reach which basically takes a crop of the sensor and through the ‘By Pixel Super Resolution Technology’ software, enlarges the crop back to full frame size and then puts back the missing pixels.

There is already a sprinkler system installed. It’s called a leaky roof.:D

The Spitfire model looks a lot like this one http://www.iwmshop.org.uk/product/24540/Metal_Spitfire_model even down to the wing break lines. There is one on dispaly in the shop at Duxford, only £520.00.

Weather wise, a day of two half’s at Duxford. The morning was low cloud and visibility and it was probably warmer in Siberia but that didn’t stop a superb display in the far from ideal conditions by TD314 which took off just as doors opened. It returned for an air to air photo shoot in the lowering cloud base and with a bit of rain falling put paid to the Stearman and everything else going flying. Afternoon and it was blue sky and sunshine with a touch of wind chill thrown in. The ARCo Harvard, ‘Taz’ was doing circuits and the Boultbee Spitfire after flying to the north, returned for a display and then circuits with lots of landings and take offs. Photos in the order they were taken.

I used the full frame version of the Tamron (28-300mm) lens, for the Northolt Night Shoot photos. I’m quite impressed with the image quality from it, don’t know what the cropped sensor version is like though.
