I was just using my ordinary Sony A7. I’ll pack my Sony A7s (the one that shoots in the dark) for Saturday. π
At Duxford they have the top of the perspex cut off so you can poke a camera in airliner cockpits.
Brian
The Perspex does make it a bit of a challenge to get a decent shot:D

Apart from Classic Wings buzzing around, a very, very, very quiet day at Duxford apart from G-ILDA leaving for Goodwood at mid-day.

Quote from the newspaper link at the start.
Once arrangements are confirmed it will be publicised and our community partners, residentsβ associations and so on will be informed and included
The families Day just gone at Northolt was open to, not only service personnel, but local residents and those of us ‘enthusiasts’ who have supported the night shoots. I’d be surprised if it was open to the general public.

You can wait ages for a bus to come along then hundreds turn up at once. ShowBus seemed to be well attended and no I didn’t take any photos of any of them. Flying commenced early afternoon and between visiting GA types and Classic Wings, ARCo Harvard/’Taz’ was out and about doing circuits and Spitfire LFXVIe/RW382, which was parked outside Classic Wings hangar when I arrived, left for Biggin Hill via Sheringham.

Brian
(hopefully for the Dominie arrival β still awaiting the telephone confirmation)
Open to spectators? π
Brian
Didn’t take part as I can’t speak Somali π
Brian
It’s starting to clear π
Brian
Thanks Howard
Forecast is for sunny intervals during the afternoon so I think a trip oop north tomorrow.
Brian
Will the Gannet be outside for tomorrow? π
Brian
And it not my loss if I don’t post photos on this thread.
Bye.
Brian
Exactly and as you put it ‘A diary is somewhere to record a whole range of thoughts, memories, photographic and verbal, and points of view’ not waffle on about the pros and cons of air show commentary and air show parking which should be in a separate air show thread and leave the dairy to record the past and present day goings on at Duxford.
Brian
This thread has now gone way off topic and unless it is cleaned up and all the air show crap put in a separate thread, I wont be posting any more photos.

From the ‘Ferocious Frankie P-51 Facebook’ page-
Frankie’s landing gear problem at The Goodwood Revival on Sunday evening. We landed safely at Duxford following a right hand gear problem immediately after takeoff at Goodwood.
The problem with the right leg was immediately apparent and inspected in the air by Lee Proudfoot in Spitfire MH434. As we had plenty of fuel it was decided to land on a long into wind tarmac runway, rather than the bumpier grass and cross-wind at Goodwood, so Duxford was the ideal choice.
During the slow transit (with the gear down) the right fuel tank was run down low to reduce the weight on that wheel, whilst there was over 90 minutes fuel left in the other tank. All was ok on landing, which was at the lowest speed possible and, as a precaution, the engine was switched off as soon as the wheels touched; the gear held and nothing at all was damaged! The undercarriage was found to be secure and Frankie was carefully towed to the hangar.
There is no damage and as soon as a replacement part arrives it will be quickly put right.
Many thanks for all your concerns.
