Wouldn’t it be great for all that stuff stored away from the public at Stafford to be on show at, say, Scampton?!
But Scampton is being sold. :dev2:

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen signs on the M11 saying use the parknride for Duxford,
That’s just for air shows when a free shuttle bus runs.
Brian
they were once at Duxford, and they have a parknride now (apparently)
No they don’t. There is a bus that runs every two hours on a Sunday.

Anthony Livingstone Great, A museum created to celebrate all thats good about the RAF ,turned into a kiddies kindergarten.> I think the museum should dispose of the aircraft and just put a childrens sandpit and slides in their place. You really have lost the plot!

How does the casual tourist/visitor get to RAF Scampton (2+ hours on the train from London, and another 2+ back) with Lincoln rail station 6 miles from RAF Scampton and buses that run every 2 hours.?

No doubt there will be another ‘should these old aircraft still be flying’ media feeding frenzy?!
If you hadn’t mentioned it here, the press probably wouldn’t have found out about it. 😀

I think it’s the first time in the last two weeks there has not been wall to wall blue sky and sunshine at Duxford. Clouds rolled in and diffused the light although it was still incredibly warm. The P-40C and F both had handling flights with a spot of aerobatics thrown in but the highlight of the afternoon was the arrival of B-25J Mitchell/44-30423/N3675G/Photo Fanny of the Planes of Fame Museum closely followed by B-25J Mitchell/45-8898/N898BW/Axis Nightmare of the Tri-State Warbird Museum who were night stopping after flying in from Sardinia and I last heard they were due to leave early on Tuesday, but that could have changed. They had been taking part in a remake of the book Catch-22 which is being turned into a 6 part TV series, directed by George Clooney, and will be shown in the UK on Channel 4 next year. In the order taken.

Saturday 7th July
Compared to the last few weekends, a very quiet Saturday at Duxford but enough warbird flying to make it interesting. Classic Wings were doing their usual fly in and fly with a Spitfire and the Blenheim went up for a handling flight with a few circuits and a display routine thrown in and I think was off on air show duty later in the afternoon. JR took JG891 up for two flights and PK flew the highly polished P-40C for about an hour. In the order taken.
