That American 73 is fantastic, is that the PMDG 737 package? if so where did you get the textures from?
Arf sorry Future P, I hadn’t realised you did one, didn’t want to undermine yours in any way, but thanks anyway

I did a search for your tutorial FP and I posted in it as well, that’s what a short memory does for you lol
Carl this sounds like a massive undertaking
I’d love to help out but I’m starting my Instrument Rating in a few weeks so time isn’t on my side, however, if there is anything you think I can do to help just shout up, have you a comprehensive list of everything, large or small that you want to include?
Great shots all

If I can find the 3 days needed to put it into words & the webspace for the pics I will :p
I don’t know about the “accurate” bit though 😉
What gets me is the very people who whine about airport expansions etc are the very people who will board a plane to fly on holiday
That’s true, my Boss flew to Dubai last week in a glider 😉

But we were talking about airliners 🙂

oops sorry
OBS is Omni Bearing Selector, it allows you to set a course on the CDI which is the Course Deviation Indicator, if you look in your HSI or Horizontal Situation Indicator which is the bottom screen below your Attitude Indicator you will see your Magenta Localizer bar, which is centralized, this is good, it means you are tracking the Localizer, but if you check the CRS within this window it is showing 340 which is set at 340 degrees, you can change this on the MCP or Mode Control Panel which is basically your Autopilot panel where it says “Course”, you will see this is set on 340.
QDM is the runway magnetic heading, basically it is the Magnetic heading “to” the station, so you want to head “to” the Localizer, so what you need to do is to obtain the runway magnetic heading, which for the one you are landing on is 188 degrees, so set 188 degrees in the Course window on the MCP, you will then see your CDI needle rotate around and point to 188. This is a good tool as well for judging where you are in relation to the runway, you have a good situation indication (hence HSI), also when you are actually on the Localizer this CDI will be pointing straight ahead in nil wind conditions, the Localizer can then be ascertained where it is in relation to you, the CDI needle will always give a “fly to” command, so if it is left then head left etc.
As you have it now it is almost on the reciprocal heading, so if it shows right you actually have to fly left.
Ben I hope all this makes sense lol, if people are interested I will do an ILS tutorial with pictures

Great shots all
Airline Owner, set your Course OBS to the runway QDM when flying the ILS, you’ll be able to track the Localizer way better using the CDI then 😉
