    Hi Loz

Also try asking your friend to consume some carbohydrate before you fly, i.e. a sandwich and/or a bar of chocolate, always take a bottle of water, keep the cabin nice and cool and airated, try to climb clear of any turbulance, amd make levelling out from a climb as smooth as possible (it’s generally the negative G that causes the most discomfort), also try Ginger tablets an hour before the flight.

    Anyone else?

So busy writing my PM to you I forgot to post a well done here, and as I said in the PM all the very best of luck to you, I sincerely hope things turn out big for you, this sounds very very exciting, and just remember when you need a FO for your first 320 you know where to come 😉

    DME

Obviously if you are flying into an uncontrolled airfield then the Std Overhead Join is std practice, check your flight guide to see the variants.

I fly the join like this

If flying to the live side from my origin then I wil fly overhead at 2000ft AAL, crossing the landing threshold, I would then start my descent to 1000ft AAL (or whatever the circuit height is) once on deadside to fly downwind dead side, I would then fly crosswind to pass over the reciprocol rwy threshold at circuit height to join circuit crosswind on the live side then fly the std circuit pattern to land, obviously if I approach from the dead side like when I go to Gloucester I would descend deadside to circuit height before crossing the reciprocol rwy threshold for std circuit.
I think as long as you have a mental picture in your head before you depart then you should be fine, my instructor taught me to draw a diagram of the airfield on my plog in the shape of what I expect to see wen I arrive so you can visualise it in the air as well, I found this works well for somewhere like Gloucester as they have 6 rwys and orientating yourself can be a bit of a nightmare especially when its busy.

Hope this helps DME, sorry if I sound patronising in places but I thought Id explain from start to finish.

8 modules the website says? and for £720?

Personally Id spend this money on flight hours, I wouldn’t detract anyone away from attending a course like this if you feel you “really” need it but to be honest the Trevor Thom books along with the PPL Confuser should be ample study material to pass the exams.

Since its basically impossible to fly a C152 with 2 people in without being over the W&B limit what are you supposed to do? Go to the gym a few times before the flight? I agree that many accidents are caused by pilots ignorance, but as its almost impossible to fly the C152 without being over the limit is the choice not to fly? (I moved onto the PA-28 by the way, so I dont break the limits anymore).

Yes it’s a predicament but the bottom line is, it’s still illegal, and it still warrants your insurance invalid, as FC suggests Im sure you can fit 2 medium sized adults in a 152 without being outside the limits (only flew one twice, can’t remember)
MINIDOH, how do you find the difference between the 2 aircraft as far as handling performance is concerned?

Indeed we have all felt it, I remember when I was training the instructor had to take over several times, stalling was the worse for me when training, andrewman, you will probably feel this too when you start your proper training but hang in there because it does pass away and you feel it less & less, I’d recommend having some carbohydrates before you go, i.e. a sandwich, a bar of chocolate, and always keep a bottle of water handy, and make sure your instructor keeps the cockpit cool, and dont wear excessive amounts of clothes, I find just a T-shirt suffices even in the coldest of weathers, basically it’ll keep you less claustrophobic in the Cessna 152.

Great pics by the way, and keep them coming, and keep us posted

    Hours schmours! 🙂

Two people flying together get roughly the same experience for the cost of one. Gotta be worth it surely? I know as I did this a lot after passing my PPL following advice from the FLYER List and friedns of which Moggy was one who advocated this route this ideal. Fortunately my club encouraged this through their social calendar and I sit in on the pax seat with other kind pilots.

    BTW, Dean as in Dashwood?

Its only worth it for experience only yes Blue, but for cost saving it doesnt work, I wouldnt detract anyone away from sharing flights, absolutely not but for what Vampire wants to utilise it for it wont add up.

er, Blue, Dashwood? elaborate please 😉
