Hi Vampire
To be honest, I think this is a false economy? end of the day you both can’t book the hrs but only share the hr i.e. ½hr each, the only real way sharing flights is a benefit is that you could possibly fly further for the same money, you need 12 hrs is it? to have been flown in a 2 yr period for your licence revalidation? which includes 12 takeoffs & landing? (someone requote me if the figures are wrong), so unless you “landaway” you wont get your required takeoffs & landings in the same No of hrs if you shared & didnt land away.
Keeping current is always hard for the newly qualified PPL and is the lion share of the reason why so many PPLs let their licence lapse after obtaining. Theres no easy way around it if your budget is tight
Anyone else?
Dean
Hiya 182man
1stly
I fly warriors, like 90% of the population it seems 🙂
Nothing flash, airways compatible with FM immune etc
2ndly
To change your name click on “User CP at the top left of the page on the bar, then click “Edit Profile” then in the 2nd box dow you will see a space for you to type a new “Custom User Title”, just put it in there and click ok 🙂
It should work, if not give me a shout
Dean
Welcome 182man
your very welcome here, as is everyone from all ilks & cultures 😀 we all share the same common denominator & thats flying 🙂
Good to share experiences from people across the pond etc
Your bird sounds like a nice plane to fly, any pics?
Dean
C152’s have a pretty small weight limit in them. When my instructor and I were flying in it we were over the legal weight limit, and I am only 12 stone. He isnt fat either! I flew a PA-28 with an instructor and two people in the back. Over the legal limit? Yes. Safe? Certainly wasnt unsafe. Same thing happens hundreds of times everyday everywhere. The only problem is that if you crash it is the captains fault for not complying with the rules.
And being outside W&B limits renders the insurance invalid does it not?
MINIDOH
If he was over the W&B limit then of course it was unsafe, as we all well know the limitations are put there for a reason, too many people mess with aviation safety in this area and it really gets on my t*ts, it’s like me being on top a skyscraper, shall I step over the edge? hmmm, I’ll just put my feet over the railings, but its ok, its not unsafe as I can still hang on to the railings.
How many of us do takeoff & landing performance charts before flying? probably not many, and there are other areas too that I think we GA pilots are just too lax on.
My mates say to me, “ooo you lucky thing, what a great hobby etc” but I reply to them with this “yes, Im privaliged to be able to do it but lets not lose sight of the fact that Aeroplanes kill people” and generally as a direct result of the actions of the pilots
D.
Still, woudl you rather it was spent on furthering my interest in flying, or spent on a Chav’s council house??? :diablo:
LOL
Im going for option 1 😉
Ive flown to Australia 3 times, every time with BA / Qantas
I found both to be excellent, as was the Qantas internal flights, the economy seats we had on a couple of sectors had legroom like business class,
Ive been on a Qantas 742, 747-sp, and 744 in Wunala colours on the long sectors and found them to be = to BA, the 747-sp was rather cold by the window though.
We flew BA on the way back on every trip, no complaints whatsoever, I will definately “look after our own” when booking to go again.
Dean.
If your an arrogant lil sh!t before your a pilot you’ll be an arrogant lil sh!t when you are a pilot, arrogance is inherant and something I hate, but do I let it get to me? naaa, are some airline pilots arrogant? hell yes, are some GA pilots arrogant? hell yes, are some people I work with arrogant? hell yes, am I going to lose sleep over it? hell no, get over it chaps & chappettes, society today is the epitamy of the diverse human:)
If I recall the Exam has 40 questions & is 1 hour long
Dean
My view
Now Im just a mere PPL with 90 odd hrs who is just starting his ATPLs towards his fATPL
Id say that most, if not all GA pilots have not experienced a large amount of time on a flight deck of an airliner, but all commercial pilots have experienced time in a GA aircraft. (exclusive of the ex airline pilots now instructing etc)
Id say that most GA pilots have not gone through the process of obtaining a type rating and flying a GA aircraft which weighs in the ‘tonne’ catagory, but all commercial pilots have experienced time in a GA aircraft. (exclusive of the ex airline pilots now instructing etc)
Id say that most GA pilots have not undertaken the ground exams for the ATPL/CPL/IR/MER/JOT/MCC/TR/ etc but nearly all commercial pilots have undertaken these.
Id say that most GA pilots have not accrued thousands of flight hrs in their log book (exclusive of the ex airline pilots now instructing etc) but most/if not all commercial pilots have (new ATPLs obviously have not)
Now the list goes on, so in general the commercial pilot has more experience than the ‘average’ GA pilot and that has to be a fact (rememeber there are always exceptions to every rule)
To be honest, with the position Im in, and the workload I have ahead of me, Im not blind to the fact that the road ahead is a long and difficult one and I know what is expected of me, and for this I take my hat off to EVERYONE who has made it to the flight deck, it IS something to be proud of, and for the arrogance? who cares 😉
Dean
edited cos I can’t spell
Have I missed anything guys?
Moggy
Yes Rob, there are 8 exams altogether, Aviation Law, Meteorology, Human Performance & limitations, Navigation, Aircraft Tech, Aircraft Performance, Radiotelephony Writen, Radiotelephony Practical
Dean
Cost to me = £15 messing. Cost to taxpayer = £££££s!
so THATS why Im paying £11,000 per yr to the taxman?

Is a pA – 28 capable of holding 4 people cos im going on a trial flight or something with my dad and bro and im kinda nervous. neva been in a small plane. Jus huge jets 😮
Be carefull Danny
A PA-28 140 is only certified to carry 3 people although it has 4 seats, a PA-28 150 Cadet can carry 4 but has weight & balance issues once you get to 4 adults, and a PA-28 160 should be ok as long as you are all medium sized adults, obviously always take the W&B into consideration for every flight and there may be ‘some’ exceptions to the things Ive stated above.
Dean
that was ‘R’
Sir,
I have bought a second-hand Mig29 at a car boot sale in Siberia. Can I fly this on an NPPL?
Yours,
Confused of Basinggrad.
Im sure R can answer that one for you Melvin
Do you know Dean, for a moment I thought you were suggesting that the rules and regulations surrounding the JAR PPL were confusing and contradictory.
No, of course you are not . . .
