    No worries.

Well they are alive, whether they are well is another story, there aren’t that many “well” airlines at the moment :o)

I know the story well too Paul, I was being flippant with my comment because I couldn’t be bothered to explain it properly (& there was no need to) to get the point across 😀

As usual, the panties in a twist brigade are up in arms.

No one was hurt, there is no evidence that the ATC was not safely functioning as usual, and the pilots in question were not bothered.

From what I gather, not one of the messages was ever complex, only requiring a report back.

    Oh that’s alright then

Sorry but what nonsense, all these things are ok, like it’s ok to turn up on the flightdeck if you’ve had a drink, it’s alright to let your son fly the plane (Aeroflot A310), it’s ok to let kids do ATC, it’s ok to fly if your medical has expired, it’s all ok, until something happens.

The problems start when something happens, and then you haven’t got a leg to stand on.

I’m very comfortable with the fact that you are not controlling any of my flights, or having a hand in any maintenance, that’s for sure.

There’s definitely 1, maybe 2 MK Airlines 742s in Kemble, I flew in there a couple months ago and remember 3 sat together.

Guys, can I remind you of this thread, and also this thread.

It’s the same culprits every time, there is absolutely no need to quote the post above, no need whatsoever 🙂

    Thanks

On the CVR yes but this erases over itself every 2hrs.

As for respecting Pilot’s privacy etc well, FDM is in use now which is supposed to be for flight safety issues only. But it is used to string them up when something goes wrong.

Fancy wanting more money and better conditions for its workers… how dare they!

You’re missing the point slippery, there’s a time and a place for this, you have to be smart about it, and that time and place is not when the company is losing £1.25 million per day, yes that is per day

I asked our CEO last time they hit our T&Cs whether he was giving up his company car & his pay etc, he couldn’t answer me, so most likely WW and his understudies will not be taking a hit, I don’t know this for certain though. It’s like taxation, why do the government make tax adjustments to the lower earners rather than the higher earners? Because the majority of revenue is generated from the lower income families because there are more of them, same principle I guess.

I am not saying they are not intelligent, but the unions have a great way of “rallying the troops” and giving out war cries etc which gives you that never say die spirit. End of the day we don’t know what is said in those meetings, but it could be something along the lines of:-

If we all stick together and fight it out they’ll have to back down because they need us.
BA are losing money but it isn’t our fault
The economy will be better in a year’s time meaning they’ll be making Millions, so don’t give it away now.
If you give in now you will only save the company a very small percentage of their losses.
The flightdeck haven’t been hit, so why should we?
Stick at it, they will back down.

The bottom line is you can’t have senior pursers earning nearly £80k per year, not in today’s changing industry. The girls at Virgin are on ½ of what BA pays, and Virgin is their direct competition.

But don’t you get the feeling the union is sending them up the garden path a little bit? In my last job we had the strongest union in the country bar none, and it’s amazing how they gee you up and paint a pretty picture which really makes you feel like you are doing the right thing, but right for who you have to ask? Half the time the only winner are the unions themselves.
If it were me I’d shut BA down in it’s present form, restructure and then re-employ everyone on a new contract, if only it were that easy 🙂

No Joey that’s totally the wrong attitude, it’s that type of attitude from the Union that has gotten them into this mess in the first place.
The whole thing is very unfortunate, nobody likes their T&Cs degraded, but when the future of your company is at stake you have to protect what you can, and by accepting the deal and not striking they will protect it, because as I said, the alternatives should not be an option.
