Hugh
A very interesting thread found here
It could help with your issue but you’ll have to locate the freeware scenery causing it.

Rob I may have, I need to go home first though as that’s where my Vista PC is. (I’m at my parents)
Hi Hugh
Happy New Year to you too.
I’ve never come across that before, is there anything on the UK2000 forums? Gary might have a fix somewhere, I’ll have a dig around

Rob have you got Vista 64 bit?
It’s staying here because it is very relevant to the CA forum.

One thing that always cheeses me off about this country is the fact that everyone loves a loser. We all supported Eddie Edwards, Frank Bruno, Tim Henman etc etc. These people were losers, end of story, but we all love them.
I feel this is inherent within society, even in school they teach you “it’s not the winning that counts, but the taking part”. This is b****ks. It’s the winning that counts, I will never teach my daughters that it’s the taking part that counts. This attitude is why we used to be so bad at everything. We have no killer instinct, no drive, no determination. Luckily with the cricket team this has changed somewhat.

My earlier post has been swept aside by the intensity of the debate between 2 or 3 indulgent high profile users. But surely a degree of “self-moderation” has to play a part, doesn’t it? Or is that just how a relative newcomer sees it?
You have a point Sky, because when you sign up to these forums you accept the terms & conditions to be abided by, which include the forum code of conduct, if you abide by the CoC then you are self moderating, thus generally being free of issues.

Dean.
I think you’ll find my comment about the thread dying a death is in reference to those who instantly shouted out in support of the removal of Lance as a moderator and have been conspicuous by their absence ever since.

Ok, that wasn’t blatantly obvious this is what you meant, thanks for the clarity 🙂
Kev what’s died a death? Things are moving and there will be some changes soon.
I was the only umpire to give a “No ball” for having more than 3 on-side fielders when it was a left-handed batsman! :o:diablo:
Sacrilege mate, you should have been sacked on the spot 😉
Paul that is worth a discussion, the only issue is that the mods are split, i.e. CA mods, Historic mods etc etc. I never ever have anything to do with Historic, nor do those mods here. It would be quite hard to review what is happening unless it was by “Forum Unit” only. Again it can be suggested. Keep them coming.
2 loves of wholemeal bread.
2 pints of milk.
Corn flakes…OK, I’ll stop messing about now! Thanks for bringing the thread around to trying to sort things out, Dean.
Something I perhaps think may possibly be a good idea is maybe a more ‘balanced’ style of moderation. Again, I realise people all do things differently but I think it can maybe cause problems or at least be a bit awkward when there are quite dramatic differences in the ways people moderate. What’s fine to one moderator may not be to another, which could make it a bit difficult to know what is and isn’t acceptable. I know it’s very different but as a part of a team of screeners there are obviously differences in what we all think, but we all try stick to the same general standards and do things according to the ‘site rules and guidelines’. If certain people are quite a lot more strict than others then it kind of throws the balance of the whole thing out, so maybe the same logic can be applied here in that perhaps aiming for more even moderation rather than ‘doing it your own way’ may be the way to go?
Paul
Paul from my perspective (and it should be from other mods perspectives) we already have a bible to standardise the way we moderate, that being the CoC. I use this almost to the letter and it seems to work for me, I’ve had no complaints as yet. Complaints via PM please 🙂
I guess the CoC can be open to interpretation, I guess it’s in the interpretation where things go awry
We as players still do this in England.
The problem with that is it will be flawed. Nobody likes being moderated (generally), no matter how small, so the backlash on the rating will not be a true reflection on reality.
Ok look without creating a shopping list all of us need to start discussing what it is we want changed/implemented/discussed yadda yadda. I’m not saying you’ll get your way but I can suggest it, I have a consensus say on certain matters but that is all the power I have I’m afraid.
I’m putting suggestions to the webmaster now as I type. I’ll hold on to what they are for now incase they don’t get the go ahead. It involves more mods from here too so lets see what happens. It may not be what we all want but it will hopefully find some common ground.
