John try switching on anti-aliasing within flight sim, but you may want to check that your graphics card settings are set to “application controlled” for the antialiasing.
Also try switching on anistropic filtering to 4x or 8x, if it’s application controlled then see if you can adjust this within flightsim

I know what you mean but you won’t get a choice, you will be told 🙂

Trust me when I say that if these birds went into production, and you finished your training, and someone offered you a job flying one you would take it, when you come out of training you will take anything, it doesn’t matter what it is, if you think otherwise you are kidding yourself.
I have an interview next week with a major UK carrier to fly their aircraft, but it doesn’t bother me what aircraft it is because I am not in a position to be choosy, the same will apply to you.
Good luck with it

I still don’t like the look of the ones with the exposed fan blades. I want ot be a pilot eventually and i don’t want to e flying something that looks like my grannies, hand fan. With the “beaker”, what are the ends of the wings? Also, i don’t really care about the enviroment sound aircraft. Airlines would want something faster and more fuel ecinomic, and not eviromently safe. If you were an owner of a multibillion airline, what would you want, A slower enviromently safe aircraft, or a faster aircraft with only fuel consiumsion saved? I know i’d go for the latter.
This is why you would not make a good airline CEO, because I would go for the option that would appeal to the passengers, because if it appeals to the passengers they will fly with your airline, and with the ever growing “green” brigade which is only going to get worse I can see passengers opting to fly greener, why? because this will become the new way of life whether you like it or not, and it is not going to go away. You only have to look now at various airlines advertising campaigns, they opt for the “green” way, “fly with us, we are green” etc, look at flybe, infact look at most airlines websites and they’ll all tell you what they are doing about the environment and how they are “committed” to change.
So the former option would strike me as being the better one right now, or at worst, a mix between the 2
Took ages to sneak this through custums, quick put it away before the captain sees it
Your problem is too vague eu, you need to tell us what load manager, what aircraft etc, we need more information

not for much longer 😉
Joe, yes I did mean DC8s, why the hell did I say DC9 in the first place?
I was lucky enough to fly in to Filton just before the Red Arrows arrived last november, it was a spectacular sight to see them all split off to land 1 by 1.
As I typed my last message an MK Airlines 742 went over my house on the way into Filton.
Adam, I am pretty certain MK have withdrawn all their DC8s from service now, I have a friend who is an engineer for them based at Filton and he says this is the case, they still have 2 parked around the back of the MK hangar (for now), not sure if they are being, or have been sold yet
Dean
Yes sorry Adam I was generalising because I didn’t have the time to explain, you are indeed correct it is a Privatair 319
Lukey
I flew into Filton last week, the usual thing there, an MK Airlines DC8 parked round the back out of view, nothing was on the apron, if you are lucky you may catch the daily Eastern flight come in using the JetStream 41, then there’s the daily movement to Toulous carrying the workers that comes back around 5pm in a scarebus 320.
The odd Highland Airways J31 flies into there too.
There is no official viewing area to be honest, the place is like fort knox to get into, you will need a pass. As you know Condorde resides there, it just depends on whether you want to go and look at her (for a fee).
The usual movements of PA28s from Aeros there as well.

Very VERY sad, I was flying in the area today. Without speculating, if the wing did fall off this is my biggest fear, you can accept anything but structural failure, I always check that the wings are “attached” in an A check, my F.I.C partner thinks I am mad, he said aren’t we better off checking the engine because it’s more and likely to fail? yes true but you’re more likely to die if the wings fall off.
Thanks for the heads up Irv
No worries Adam
Naa I went for 40° of flaps to see how she reacted, she was fine as I said
You are quite correct in that you need to be careful about using reverse thrust whilst in asymmetric conditions, you would normally not use reversers on the remaining engine because this will give an asymmetric force, also if you have 2 reverse thrusters this reduces your landing distance by a typical value of about 10%, so you can see they are not “that effective” anyway, the most braking actions comes from the brakes themselves (unsurprisingly), along with reverse thrust & then the spoilers.
So in effect Bristol Intl should be plenty long enough to land without reversers, however, if it were a wet or slippery runway then some performance calcs may need to be done.
As far as rudder goes in keeping it straight, well yes it is important, but it would be important with both engines operating, the only difference here is that as you flare you need rudder authority to “keep straight” before touchdown, again the importance of knowing Vmca is paramount, especially in crosswind conditions. But let’s assume still wind conditions, you will have to have a certain amount of rudder input (usually trimmed) to counter the asymmetric force with 1 engine inop, all you would do is use “rudder as required” to straighten her up for landing and to maintain the centreline.
Sorry to rabbit on.
Hope this helps
