Cant wait to see that one in the air! Congrats to all involved.
It does raise the question is the gun layout perticular to this mark?
It was announced at last years Legends that Ed was hoping to bring the Horsemen to this years show.
This’ll be it not taking off from a runway then…… 😮
It never actually took off from water – because the 12 VTOL lift engines were never fitted.
All its early (very successful!) flights were from dry land – it could not go fast enough on the inflatable floats to take off like a floatplane (it was never designed to do this – it was a VTOL).
After it was ‘converted’ from a VTOL ASW VVA-14 aircraft into the 14M1P ekranoplan and the inflatable floats were exchanged for rigid ones, it also never ‘took off’ because it could never achieve the forward lift.
The Bartini/Beriev VVA-14 (ASW VTOL) and 14M1P ekranoplan is a very much misunderstood aircraft.

BTW – the wreckage at Monino is of the later, ekranoplan conversion – the 14M1P…..
Yeah I knew it was an ekranoplan, hence my coment. I never knew it had flown as an aircraft, glad to be corrected though. I just wish I could get to Russia to see it in the flesh.
I love the beriev VVA 14, but is it really a plane anyway as it certainly cant fly when it out of the water!
Short Seamew gets my vote.

It will be by air I think, the idea is to complete the mission and cumming by sea will be cheating!
There already is! Mr. Greys PC12 is always there:D
Sorry to buck the trend but I enjoyed it! I found the human side was shown quite well and lets face if they really wanted to do the 90 years justice then it would have to be a series and not a one off.
It would have been nice if they had shown the flypast and celebrations from Fairford though.
Soooooooooooo many to choose from! Seeing the Russian Knights at Finningly, SU-27 what an aircraft!
All of the Russian stuff at Farnborough and the Bear and Il-76 doing a simulated refuleing pass at Fairford on the Thursday, well any Russian stuff really.
Every Flying Legends!!!!
Amongst many,many others.

I have just posted my shots from the Sunday of the open day weekend. It was one of the best £10 I have ever spent……one to keep an eye out for next year!

This is Wings Venture’s and is based at Oxford Airport. It was one of the three ship that displayed at the Duxford 90th Anniversary Airshow.

Thats definatly only flying on 3 engines. The shutter speed looks more than fine! I use 250 for props that are flying and for taxiing I mess about and see how low I can get so you see the full disc. This looks really good on planes with painted props like the Tucano.

Its know as the doughnut by the US pilots and used as a visual bombing aid.
Hi Cliff
Thanks for the comments.
I was on the cliffs between the two piers. One of the guys from the Bournemouth museum stand gave me the tip.
In the morning I walked along the prom and spotted the dayglow datum point on the cliffs. This was visable from the path along the top and so I got as close to the point as possible.
Certainly hope I can make next years show.

It is legal to copy profetional photos that are pre 1985 (I think, might be earlier) as long as they are of family members, this law was changed a few years ago.
I get around having my shots nicked from my site by putting relativly low grade images on, they look good small but any bigger then they are quite poor.
Just managed to get my shots on my website. They were taken with a 400mm lens from the cliffs and im not sure if it was the weather brought them further inshore but I had to do hardly any cropping.
