Looks like the wind is going to force the Lancaster to cancel 🙁

At the last airshow there a guide told us that most of the buildings on site are suffering from concrete cancer and that there were also concerns over the hangers that the aircraft are in.

thanks for the tips. I am aiming to be in the area for around 8 in the morning so hopefully parking should be a bit easier.

Sukhoi displayed at both RIAT and Farnborough when the Crimea issue was at full strength and tensions with Russia were extremely high with not just us but most of Europe so its possible the Russian one could attend. I don’t expect it to though!

The hangers suffer from concrete cancer that is a major issue I’m led to believe.

Compared to other events yes the ticket price is average but compared to other airshows, well that’s a different matter!

    Scampton Airshow Statement
On September 9-10 Scampton Airshow Limited, with the support of the RAF Charitable Trust Enterprises (RAFCTE), RAF personnel and a hardworking team of volunteers successfully staged a new airshow at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire. The two-day event attracted 50,000 visitors from the East of England and beyond. Organising an aviation event on the scale of the Scampton Airshow involved many stakeholders, significant planning and we are very proud of what was collectively delivered.
However, post-event there remains a lot to reflect on and areas where we would like to improve. As the organiser, we have concluded that rather than stage an airshow in 2018, we will use next year to fully consider the many lessons learnt with the ambition of running an event in 2019. We are very grateful to the many volunteers, sponsors, participants and local agencies, as well as the many thousands of people who attended September’s airshow, for their support.

They are hoping to come back in 2019. I think they over estimated how much people were willing to pay, that’s the only reason I didn’t go! Second only to RIAT on ticket price with no major crowd puller and an average flying display I just couldn’t justify the cost which was a pity as I was really looking forward to it when it was first announced

They have also cancelled the wingwalkers as well, I wonder if the jet team are next?

RIAT is a full 3 day show from 2018 onwards, it was announced in 2016.
Cosford is a great show and I go every year. It can have some issues with getting in and out but they are working hard to improve this and it was far better this year. Cosford are having a 100 aircraft static line up showing the history of the R.A.F. through the years. The F4 ‘Black Mike’ has already arrived and the Defiant is going to be on show. I would imagine quite a few from the museum will join it too.

I don’t see how it could effect the Sally B and other clubs at Duxford as they are not directly connected. The new club has 2 price levels – Prices start from just £35 for membership or access more with Premium membership from £55.

In theory they can be ‘restored’ as any mark as the airframe is a new build anyway!

Well it seems quite acceptable to treat the recent Mosquito’s and MKI spitfires as restorations so I cant see why this should be any different for the DH9!
