    But I like pizza.

Seriously though, the ‘underclass’ you refer to, Trolly (though that word disappeared from the tabloid lexicon when they realised it) are to the right of centre in England. I suspect Cameron’s surprise victory had more to do with them putting down the pizza..

Turkeys voting for Christmas, maybe, but a look at the demographics is interesting.

It’s a mirror image, so perhaps simplest way to visualise what you need to do is take a picture then reverse it on computer.. or just put a mirror in front of it. If you are redrawing station profiles it’s the same proposition – reverse them around the blade long axis.

Also, thanks must go to Chris Hayward, Merlin57, who won’t say it himself but who has volunteered to take on the Secretary’s role and has kept the whole thing together while some heckled from the sidelines.

It is, very early days! We are considering how it might be disassembled for travel, as from the beginning we planned to ‘tour’ it for a while upon completion, whenever that might be.. but already there has been interest from various museums/organisations. One thing is an absolute definite requirement – it is going indoors!

Understood! So, any volunteers in the Ripon/Thirsk area, or who can get there to put in a bit of metal-bashing?

Hi Dave – yes, I added that bit to Chris’ release, apologies, I should have said ‘Dedicated volunteer (one man) team’…!

What a ridiculous, ill-thought-out question. What if you believe those who planned it or took part exhibited neither heroism or insanity to any notable degree? The question seems to suggest that heroism and insanity are opposites. As in truth they are near neighbours separated only in the moral dimension, the question, if you believe the act was either of the above, is the rather less histrionic ‘was it moral’?

Funnily enough, the Whirlwind had them. Unlocked, they gave a boost to agility by deploying when the angle of attack was great enough. They got locked down flush as a safety measure once a couple of accidents had been attributed to unwanted deployment. Dr. Jim Munro’s research has suggested that some later pilots who tried out the aircraft had no idea that they even existed, and this goes some way to explain why there are two different versions of the aircraft’s potential in a dogfight (though among squadron pilots the praise was unanimous). It has been suggested that some may have been ‘de-modded’ in the field to get the slat functionality back.

I think the OP meant is the photo genuine, rather than did the P12 Delanne exist. The image looks like a model to me, as well.

    It will be from something with a 24v system. R3002 = 12v, R3003 = 24v

    So not Hurricane, IIRC?

True enough, Brian. I don’t know what the comparative cost is, but the train has the convenience factor if your getting as far as Cambridge by train anyway!
