China is a Communist nation but it has a much more market oriented open capitalist economy, much like Yugoslavia. That is why former Yugoslavia was so much richer than most of the other Eastern European countries, it was because it had an open market oriented economy. Though still communist by some means but otherwise open.
Super Tucano all the way. I am starting to change my mind about Jet Trainers. Now that turbo props which are cheaper to maintain and even buy can also perform advanced training, there seems to be no need for advanced jet trainers, and advanced trainers with light attack capability are still not the best because usually their range is crap and their payload and avionics are not the greatest. The point is that a plane like Super Tucano can perform besides advanced and basic training, COIN, Helicopter Hunting, Border Patrol, Drug Interdiction, Light Attack meanwhile a Yak-130 can perform all those, it’s more capable but who needs it when you’d already have a fighter do the heavier stuff. There’s the low end(turbo prop armed trainer) and the high end(fighter) but who needs a middle end(AJT with light attack capability).
The point is that I don’t see a use for AJTs anymore with Attack Capabilities.
I like the F-1, nice plane, seems very similar to Jaguar and J-22 Orao. Though it does not really offer a big advantage over the Su-22M2 in the strike role, if it is not inferior.
Yes, it’s the best for any bigger nation that relies on foreign military equipment not to rely on one single source.
Yes politically the EF2000 is good for Turkey because it would make them even closer to EU but the thing is, is EF2000 really a good GAP FILLER? I mean I would buy F-16s or something to fill the gap instead of something like as expensive as the EF2000
About the shot-down of a F-117 over Serbia, it is little known, that a French officer,
still gratefull about the role of Serbia in WWII, gave away all the data for a Serbian F-117 trap.
Ohhh Bull****.
Anyways, the Serbs must’ve detected the F-117 anyway. If the Americans were flying the F-117 lets say few times through the same path, then the Serbs couldn’t have just known that like anyhow, they must’ve detected it somehow. How else would they know it was flying through the same path night after night.
Yes
1)I doubt it will be the tranche 1 Typhoon, probably 2 or maybe even 3 that they might opt for
2)Does the Typhoon offer much much bigger capability over the Tornado ADV and especially the F-15C?
3)Can’t the Tornado ADVs and F-15Cs still be kept for at least another 15 years?
4)Wouldn’t this be instead the replacement for the F-5s and such?
So R-37 is a whole new missile? How would it compare to R-77?
SO about the K-37M, what are it’s specs. I have heard of the improved R-37 over the basic R-33 but not the R/K-37M.
I think it’s better for Saudi Arabia to go for something entirely non-American especially after they ripped them off for the F-15S deal.
I am still not sure if the Typhoon is a good choice, it carries American AIM-120 and who knows when the Meteor will be available for export. I would rather go for the Rafale or for even the Su-37 but still I don’t think the Rafale or even the Su-37 should replace something like the F-15S, I don’t know why Saudi Arabia is buying fighters now to replace their F-15s when they can soldier on for another 15 years. They should rather work on their maintenance and training problems so they don’t have to rely on foreigners to maintain and fly their planes, which is a major problem in the Saudi AF.
If anything Mig-29M/K/SMT is not a lightweight fighter, it’s more of a middleweight expensive to maintain fighter, although capable. It is Russia’s lightest modern fighter, when compared to Flankers and Mig-31s.
I think MiG should seriously go ahead on their lightweight 4.5-5th generation fighter, something light.
Actually the Mig-29SMT and F-16blk50 are pretty even in all around capabilities. There is I believe a pretty big difference between Mig-29SE and Mig-29SMT in terms of avionics and sensors and such.
Camaro, does Peru plan to upgrade their Mig-29s to SMT?
Does the FAP M2K’s carry any sort of BVR missiles?
Anyways does Peru have any plans to upgrade their Mig-29s to SMT maybe or anything like that with a better radar?
I don’t know but the Mig-29A/S is still a much better Aircraft than any F-5
F-18 Hamburder, that’s a rather stupid idea, what kind of improvement if the F-1 over Su-22M2 or even Jaguar for that matter, none really.
Also how long is Peru planning to keep it’s Jaguars and Su-22s for?
Yes I must say the AV-8Bs are excellent planes.
