Yes I forgot the M346, same as Yak-130, though I believe it’s much more expensive cuz it’s manufactured in Italy and not in Russia.

Well I am not sure if Greece does rely on US for military aid but having seen all the things they’ve acquired I would not say they depend on US much for military equipment.

I think the best plane would be either Yak-130 with L-159 probably second best.

I wonder how much teh L-159 costs!

But it did evolve into an Air Defence fighter than the Harrier II evolvedi nto a good multirole aircraft.

I think they would want something new and good, IA63 Pampa, Yak-130, L-159, Mig-AT and Hawk 100 all would probably go for the competition. I think Yak-130 and L-159 would be the biggest competitors.

I doubt they would want a Carrier.
That would be stupid considering that their AF and Navy need heavy modernization yet they would take a Carrier over it and they can’t even modernize anything due to their bad economic problems.

Heyy you said that the A-4 would be getting some upgrades along the lines of F-5 and AMX, what kind of upgrades would they be getting, as if lets say the Su-35 was chosen by Brazil?

Yahhh alot of trainers are market failures, not really technical failures much but mostly market

As for Advanced Jet Trainers, the American and British JTs are very expensive, that leaves you with Chinese, Russian, Indian now and Japanese. I don’t think the Japanese or Taiwanese trainers have much of a chance but the T-50 will be a good light attack plane but too many American parts.

Probably the best AJT is the Yak-130, it’s training capabilities are very good, it’s very cheap to buy and it has good light attack capabilities and is wired for R-73, Machine Guns, Rockets, Vikhr Anti-Tank missile, Kh-25ML, KAB-500Kr and other weapons. It could be good for Light CAS and Strike. And this all comes with a price of around 10-12mn compared to the inferior Hawk which costs almost 20mn and who knows how much the more capable T-50 costs and it’s not politically very good either with all the American parts in it. The Mig-AT is the closest thing to Yak-130 but it’s actually inferior.

All there is left to do is develop a single seat Yak-130 light fighter.

Well lets just say that the JSF program will never fail. I think the problems on teh F-35B will be overcome. If it is not an option anymore, UK will probably have no choice but to build a CTOL Carrier, to operate either Super Hornets, F-35Cs or navalize the Typhoon but that would be immensly expensive.

There are many more jet trainers out there than there are turbo prop trainers despite the market for turbo props being bigger.

Some popular turbo props are the PC-9 and Super Tucano, while there are some newer ones like the

And finally the new Serbian Lasta 95

Out of any of these PC-9 and Super Tucano will dominate the markets. Not sure about Lasta 95 but it has yet to enter service, Yak-52M seems pretty good and Super Mushak has had some export success.

Well I think it was USSR itself that messed up. The Communist economic system failed but they never realised this until it was too late. Also USSR made a mistake to try and spend the same amount of money on defence as USA when it’s infrastructure and economy were much weaker than that of USA. Reagan just increased USA’s defence spending so the Soviets would to, where the economy could not handle it.

But only if it was as cheap as the Ching Quo I would’ve bought it too.

also, here’s a rather interesting trainer, the Polish EM-10 Bielik, it’s very light, cheap to buy and extremely cheap to run, it’s probably the cheapest jet trainer to run out of any other out there.

Although it is unarmed but it’s computers can allow it to simulate launch of any weapon, though if you want CAS you might want to pick something else. It has yet to be equipped with FBW and it can do manouvers of any 3rd or 4th generation fighters.
