I think the trainer market is pretty overcrowded. They are cheap to build and stuff that is why so many countries have them but I am still not sure.

The best trainers are the Super Tucano and K-8 as for IJTs since they are so cheap to buy and maintain, and the best AJT is probably the Yak-130, unmatched capabilities for price.

No the “Pink Teams” are also Marine AH-1 Cobras and AH-6 Little Birds.

Anyways, what about maintenance and buying cost for them?

Yes upgraded Mig-29M + Su-39 is a perfect combination. THe Mig-29M is the best affordable Russian jet and on top of that it shares same weapons with the Su-39, and the Su-39 is probably the best all around multirole CAS/Strike aircraft. I would pick Su-39 or A-10 over Attack Helicopters any day any time. Su-39 is very versatile, good range, excellent survavibility, can perform CAS and on top of that can carry wide variety of other ASMs like Mig-29M or SMT.

actually teh AH-6J was fielded in Iraq by the Marines with Cobras and they flew in so called “Pink Teams”. They were both assigned to anti-armour and CAS roles. And as far as I know it’s armed with Hellfires missiles and many other weapons.

Ok so which one is better in terms of survavibility when it would come out in the battlefield?

Can the Skyhawks actually last that long? I know the Carrier can always sail but I am not sure about the Skyhawks.

Ohh no they do actually buy it for technical merits. This is why F-15T is bad politically is because Singapore does not want to rely on a single supplier, that’s the thing.

I heard this story from my History teacher. Back in the Vietnam War, a dogfight occured between 2 NVAF Mig-21s and 2 USAF F-4s. One of the Mig-21s shot down the F-4 and the other F-4 shot down the other Mig-21. The Mig-21 pilot came back around and started shooting with his cannon at the ejected USAF pilot who was a good friend of the other F-4 pilot. The other F-4 pilot saw this and came back around, shot down that Mig-21 and then shot at the ejected NVAF pilot.

    Paybacks a bitch.

I enjoyed your stories Dutchy, some of them are funny.

Why is weird to be relacing such a light striker such as the A-4 with a heavy multirole fighter like Su-30? I mean Singapore was already planning to replace the Skyhawks with either Typhoon, Rafale or the F-15.

I am pretty sure that Singapore also launched this competition to counter Malaysia’s and Indonesia’s buy of the Flankers. I am not sure the Flanker has much of a chance here, I will bet Singapore will go for the Rafale, why? It comes with all new weapons unlike the Typhoon which uses the AIM-120, unless Singapore opts for the Meteor in the long term. But I would not pick the F-15 at all, why?
1)The Rafale and Typhoon are both better planes than F-15
    2)both newer
3)The F-15 is an old airframe, very expensive to maintain and on top of all in this deal the F-15T is more expensive to buy than the Eurocanards
4)Politically it would be better not to rely on a single source of arms, Singapore already operates pretty much all American equipment. Singaporean officials also agreed that it was better to go with Europe.

As for SU-30 being unproven, ohh please, don’t give me that crap, like the F-15T, Rafale, Typhoon, F-35 or F-22 are all proven. People say stupid things like that when they run out of things to say.

I would go for the Eurocanards or the Flankers, anything but the F-15, old, inferior and too expensive. The only reason it has a chance is cuz it’s American.
