I think SAMs and UCAVs are the future. If you look at the latest SAMs, they are not only hard to destroy especially how mobile they are, I mean an S-300PMU1 would have a deploy-to-move-to-deploy time of about 2 mins I think it is, it’s ridicilous.
It should be pointed out that all of the sweetners that Russia has reportedly offered to support the Sukhoi bid – such as its involvement with the space programme and a rebalancing of the Russian/Brazilian trade defecit – have been made completely outside the terms of the RFP and the official above-board process.
They *should* all be dismissed as irrelevent to the evaluation of the bids as tendered…
But they would happen would they not IF Su-35 was chosen?
-Anyways, the Gripen and Su-35 are both great planes, though I have a feeling that regarding the cost the Gripen will be cheaper though by not by a humongous ammount in the future, this is because the Su-35 was offered for 35mn and the Gripen for some 50. However that’s just cost wise in the long term.
-The Su-35 is a way better aircraft, in AA, Strike, Anti-Shipping and many other things, it’s range is huge and can cover very large distances.
-Another problem with the Gripen is the American components in it, it contains an American engine and many other things inside which US can easily block to them.
If Su-35 is chosen we will see wide variety of Russian weapons and avionics in FAB F-5s, MIIIs and AMXs, correct me if I am wrong!
I think MCA can manage at least 4 internal hardpoints to carry something like the size of 1000lb LGBs like JDAM, at least to make it an effective striker.
Eritrea already has 6 Su-27s and some 10 Mig-29s
Yes agreed, and it will need some big internal bays to house some big weapons if it is going to be a striker. On top of that with weapons and all the fuel being carried internally, the MCA will be a very speedy and low RCS aircraft due to it’s low RCS, much like the LCA.
Umm just a question
1)What’s the difference for example in between having 50 F-22s or 339? I mean 30 F-22s would be able to stop any AF around the World, with 10 being left for training and the other 10 for homeland?
I seriously don’t think theres a need for 339 F-22s, just buy maybe 50-75 and thats all thats needed.
if it’s not going to have internal weapon bays, stealth shaping for low RCS and powerful engines for at least m1.4 loaded with weapons and internal fuel for supercruise then it will be more of a eurocanard. I have a feeling it will be pretty fast and have pretty low RCS but I just hope they will have internal bays.
Vympel I thought you spoke Russian?
Well lets not talk about that now, let’s talk about the MCA, this is what this thread is set up for.
No matt bad idea
1)Fitting two Kaveris would require much wider fuselage
2)It would require tons more fuel for a satisfied range of a middleweight fighter
3)I assume since it’s a stealthy 5th gen. it would require internal weapon bays, this would also big a big modification.
There is nothing the MCA can share with LCA except probably the wings, same style canopy, some avionics, engines possibly and nothing else.
How are they planning to actually get the water inside the plane? It would require some big pumps. I’d rather have floatplanes land on water, collect and go.
Yahh as it seems everything in the Peruvian AF has low sortie rates, because there are so many damn different aircraft types that maintenance is a nightmare. I believe Ecuadorian AF is plagued by the same reasons.
Indian1973, I thought LCA was going to replace the Mig-23s besides the Mig-21s too. But anyways as it seems in the future
LCA will replace Mig-23s & -21s
Mirage-2000-5s will be added
PAK-FA will probably replace current Mig-29s and M2Ks around 2010-2012
Su-30MKIs and other Flankers will stay past 2020
MCA will replace Mig-27s and Jaguars probably around 2020
And all of these will go past 2020.
Anyways as for the MCA, it seems everything points out it will be a medium(Mig-29, F-18 class), 5th generation twin engined striker mainly with secondary AA capability. But with given Indian past of slowly approving stuff I don’t think MCA has a chance of taking off before 2020, I mean LCA development didn’t come in till something like 1990 or 1989 right? And the development started way back in 1983. Also MCA seems to have not gotten the funding yet, yet the PAK-FA and J-XX have been developing for some 3-4 years now already. I doubt MCA will get funding before 2010.
Well I don’t think getting rid of the M2K would be a smart option, I mean it is cheap to run so not much money would be spent on it. If it cannot be upgraded then Peru might as well leave it as it’s striker.
Yes, Su-39 is probably the best CAS aircraft currently in the World. Much more versatile than A-10, it’s faster, very cheap to buy, very survivable in the battlefield including from Air targets(it can carry R-77) and can perform wide variety of missions besides CAS such as strike with PGMs and many other weapons.
