Are those Ilyushin IL-76s as noisy as they look? (What a beast)
No, they’re FAR noisier than they look! 😀

And secondly (and still there right now), this “brand new” but rather anonymous looking DC-8-63 of Johnson Air, registration 9G-FAB – all DC-8s are fab, its just that this one confirms that fact with its registration! 😉

Hey Ren, how about these two beauties just arrived at Chateau Skymonster – I’d have thought that with location and interests you’d have been all over these:
Talk is that Tony Davis is going to Tiger Airways in Singapore.
For what its worth, I believe that Tony stuck his neck out a long way when he said that Baby’s traffic at East Midlands was stifled by the name and that naming the airport Nottingham would generate significant additional traffic from abroad. Of course, hindsight shows that hasn’t really happened, so maybe the writing was on the wall?

Amazing what a quick click on auto-levels will do in photoshop! 😉
Seriously, in these conditions the camera will tend to underexpose. Even though the clouds look grey (in reality) they’re whiter than the camera’s meter expects the background to be, so it underexposes slightly. On dull days either (a) over-expose slightly – use exposure compensation of between +1/2 and +1 or (b) sort it out in photoshop afterwards.

Scroll down and the subject is a new hanger. I thought it was the new police helicopter one but it mentions a maintenance base. The airport director had said he was in negociation for such a base previously. So does anyone know what it is?
Ahem! If its a HangEr, its for coats… 😉 HangArs are for aeroplanes (or helicopters)!

I think Blackpool’s future will be linked to any casino development – if the gambling laws get changed and a large casino (as already proposed) gets the go ahead and it built on the sea front, this could be a significant draw for Blackpool in its own right. Until that happens, I can’t really see that much growth as MAN and LPL are a bit too close.

Thought it was just a spam-can ‘drome with a few oil support egg-whisks and the odd Emerald 748 thrown in for good measure, not to mention the recently sold Vulcan. Oh well, shows how much I know!!!

Nothing wrong with Interflug! I flew with them PRG-LZG-SXF and SXF-PRG many years ago – storming flights, on IL-18s!
And yes, happy birthday!
