Not really wishing to resurrect recent heated debates, but it seems based on this topic and another recent one that GLA is better… for weather, at least!!!

    Andy

Nice pics by the way – didn’t realise you could get so close at GLA!

Short haul, intra-Europe, Duo were the best of the best. Now they’re gone 🙁

Likewise, I don’t rate Emirates in steerage at all – far more cramped than many others. Their business class product is good, however. Equally, I don’t rate Singapore in economy, but Raffles was excellent. Of the other Asian and the far east carriers, Air New Zealand was good (though it was a long while ago I used them), Qantas OK, and Cathay Pacific very good. I also flew Lufthansa to Tokyo last year, and their business class was excellent one way and average the other – go figure!

On the North Atlantic UK-US and v.v., in economy my choice in order of preference is: BMI (yup, another one!), United (better than BMI if you can wangle economy plus, but then I can usually get New Economy on BMI which puts them back on top), US Airways (A330 only though, mainly for their VOD), Virgin and British Airways (both much of a muchness), American. Others I haven’t tried, though I suspect Northwest’s old battle-bus DC-10s can’t be much fun. Business class wise the table flips, with BA probably best, followed by Virgin. The only other transatlantic business product I’ve tried is United, which isn’t so good as BA or VS. In five weeks time, I get to try BMI’s The Business, so things may change after that!

Hey. If you’re on Bayshore at SFO on Sunday, look out for a guy with a D60 and a big Canon L series zoom lens – it might just be me!!!

The only stage III 707 that flew in there regularly (Air Memphis) crashed in Egypt a while ago. So no 707s now. No IL-76s either – they were regular after the stage II 707s were forced out. There’s still plenty of stage III DC-8s around (-60 series mainly), and MK Cargo have apparently just moved from Manston to Ostend so it should be looking up there for DC-8s.

Percentages are always misleading when it comes to passenger growth. Grot Airways flew 1000 passenger from Here to There last June and 1400 this June but can only claim 40% growth over the same period.

What have Grot Airways got to do with Edinburgh or Glasgow – I thought Grot Airways were the ones with the harp on the tail who operate out of Prestwick!!! 😀

If one of us tried this stunt, no doubt we’d be hauled up in court, probably get some sort of criminal record, and almost certainly be banned from flying with the airline concerned for life. Although I suspect he’ll get away with what he’s done, I sincerely hope that this PRAT from the Sun gets the same sort of treatment from the authorities that any normal passenger would get.

LOL!!! September 27th I need to do a day trip to Paris…

    EMA-CDG-EMA on bmiBaby £132.88 all-in 😮
    BHX-CDG-BHX on Air France £151.80 all-in 🙂

Parking is cheaper at BHX, reducing the difference.

I know which airline I’m going to fly with, and it doesn’t use WW as its flight code!!! 😀

Hey Danair, I think you’ll find that there’s plenty of room on this forum to criticise and comment – personal opinions also seem to be welcome when they’re based on fact or knowledge. You just need to be aware that in todays world of quick-fire litigation, internet forum owners are seen as culpable too if they allow potentially libelous posts to remain in place on their forums. I hope you stay, but if you choose to go elsewhere and post the same sort of thing as you did about MOL (yes, I saw it before it was removed), be aware that you’re potentially setting yourself and the operators of that forum for some rather nasty action in future.

bmi-star, I have four chances for ‘BD this year – Saturday next MAN-ORD and a week later ORD-MAN, then late-September MAN-IAD and mid-October IAD-MAN. Hopefully I’ll get ‘BD once in that lot! The late-September / mid-October trip I’m particularly looking forward to, as I’m flying “The Business”.

Hmmm… BMI A330 in Chicago… I know one member of this forum who will be arriving at ORD on that flight next Saturday! 😎 Just hoping that they’ll be using ‘BD in Star Alliance colours, as I’ve been on both ‘BB and ‘BM several times before.

Nice pics… Sadly, I’m just transitting ORD to SFO so won’t have much time for photos myself.

Hi Guys, went down to Bristol for the morning to see what I could see

Does one go “down” to Bristol, or “up”? As far as I remember, it is on top of a hill, so going down to it may be something of a challenge!!!

Seriously, nice pics… Maybe one day, if it weren’t so far away for me…
