Its not going to be much good as a freighter if it can’t fly in bad weather!
To paraphrase specsavers “Should have gone to Airbus” :diablo:

I’m an aviation and travel fanatic……I want to be able to do what I do as economically as possible. It seemed to be admired universally when Freddie Laker,Richard Branson and Harry Goodman (Air Europe RIP) tried it but because a couple came along who really knew how to stuff it to the opposition, they’ve become reviled.
Sad on a site for aviation enthusiasts, though, who one would have thought would welcome the rich variety to spot or photograph,or either or both.
The problem is not “stuff[ing] it to the opposition”. I have said before, I am not against low-fare airlines in general, just against the “sharp” practices that some specialise in. The worst part of the low-fare sector is that they refuse to take responsibility for a failure to deliver – flight cancelled, too bad, come back another day and don’t expect us to cover your costs in the mean time. If they would just take commit to “accommodate” the passenger until they have delivered what the customer contracted for (travel to a specific destination) – as WestJet say they will – that’d be a big step in the right direction. Oh, and stop ripping customers off with excessinve ancilliary charges – it doesn’t cost the airline a fiver to pre-allocate a seat, or a similar amount PER SECTOR per passenger to process a credit card payment, so stop charging so much.
The other problem I have, as I’ve said before, is that your cheap flights come at a cost to many airline employees and ground staff, who are now far more badly paid and work to far worse terms and conditions than they did in the past. Its not that I believe airlines should be a gravy-train for employees, but if blackkettle in 10 years time someone has devalued your line of work to the extent that your effective pay is half of what it is now and that you have to work far harder for even that money, then maybe you’ll understand. I don’t work in airlines now, so it doesn’t directly affect me, but I still morally believe that rediculously cheap travel has come at too high a cost.

Is this a pro-Westjet post or an anti FR one?
Both
Easyjet BRS-GLA out Tues 9/3 early am,back next day late pm £38.98 all in for 406 miles each way. Westjet same dates out 14.30,back 14.15 Toronto-Montreal £112.07 for 313.45 miles each way!!!!
Despite the hardly similar comparison (as already outlined by Cloud9) I’d gladly pay Westjet price rather than be subjected to a Ryanair style humiliation for 1/3 the price.
In fact, I’d go so far as to say you shouldn’t be allowed to fly that far for so low a price – in no way does that price reflect the cost of moving you from BRS to EDI and back, nor does it support the environmental impact you are causing by flying that route.
When Transport Minister Skymonster comes to power, you will be forced to pay a fair price for your flying – a price that makes you consider whether even travelling that trip, let alone flying, is economically and environmentally justifiable.

Thanks for the comments. On looking back, a few of them are not quite leveled – I know I’d already had a couple of G&Ts when I started processing them (and a couple more whilst I was processing them!), but I didn’t realise I was that “happy” 😀
is that a new livery for Mexicana or just a one off??
New Mexicana livery – been around for about a year now, but first time I’ve caught it.
LA seems to be quite hazy.
That’s not quite hazy for LAX – many days at LAX are FAR worse than that!

Pertinent section is right at the top of page 12:
“Unless otherwise required by ATC, Runway 23R/23L shall be used for all movements when there is a head wind component and when a tail wind component is not greater than 5 kt on either runway”

Four generations of JAL livery, including a “special”…
A bit of LHR nostalgia… 747 lining up on what was then 28L
A wet day at Nagoya – 767-300
A JAL type not many will have seen – Saab 340 at Kagoshima
And finally, my favourite JAL – the DC-6 – as far as I’m concerned this is a picture of a JAL DC-6 and the 747 is just coincidentally in the frame too (so keeping within the rules!) :p

Almost NOT going to be a problem provided that some power is maintained to avoid sinking and excessive forward pressure is not applied to the column… There’s so much ground effect that close to the runway if a reasonable speed and power setting is maintained that it will not fly into the ground. I remember (well) standing on the flight deck of a Curtiss C-46 Commando in Bolivia that did a very low pass along the runway at Villavicencio – the pass was so low that the bottom of the fuselage was obscured by the long grass in the photos taken by bystanders, but in the flight deck the captain had to push the column forward with quite some pressure to maintain the pass
Sorry, I don’t provide “free” a.net hits for unseen images – post it here instead

I wonder if this is Varsity Express’ first aircraft undergoing some work prior to first service? :diablo:

Rumour has it that many younger aircraft enthusiasts are very keen to fly Varsity Express to get a “new” type in their logbooks, but that some doubt has been expressed as to whether the aircraft will be ready in time for the launch of the airline! :p
PS: FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF ANY DOUBT – this posting is a JOKE (for anyone who doesn’t realise, the aircraft portrayed above is a Vickers Varsity!)
According to the airline, trading normally whilst seeking new investment

On occasion I’d bet we’ve all make occasional jokes that with hindsight might have been in poor taste. This poor sod might lose his job and his livelihood over something that anyone with any degree of common sense (something the Rozzers in this country have seemingly lost, as I said before) would realise was just that – a joke. IMHO, it is a very poor do.

This to me exemplifies the sad state of Great Britain where it has become unwise to say ANYTHING untowards in jest (whether verbally, or by email, or whatever) for fear it might be taken seriously by the PC-police or even snooped on by law enforcement or by our sinister security services. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realise that such a comment in the context it was made on Twitter is a joke, but sadly the Rozzers in the UK now often have no sense of humour and lack the common sense to distinguish between serious threat and joke, and in failing to do so waste huge amounts of their own time and that of those they misguidedly direct unnecessary attention to.

If they are proven to work, if they are proven to prevent SOME illicit material being taken onto flights that might otherwise have been boarded (not talking about the Detroit thing in particular, but any “bad” items) then fine – I’d rather risk a dose of radiation every so often than be blown up. And I don’t think that there should be exemptions either (ie. children as referred to above) – its been shown before that the bad guys are not averse to recruiting people from amongst those that might previously have been thought to be innocent.
