Most people can manage without making or receiving a phone call for the average hour or two of a Ryanair flight, in fact any flight. Just another money making scheme from Ryanair, that’s all. The thought of listening to someone with an over-inflated ego blasting into their phone throughout a journey doesn’t really appeal to me, just as it doesn’t appeal when I’m on the train – at least trains have quiet coaches, but I doubt the Tinkers will be installing quiet cabins in their aeroplanes. I suppose that they could encourage phone users to go sit in the small room whilst they’re making a call to keep disturbance and noise to a minimum! 😀 All in all, just another disincentive to fly Ryanair, another reason to avoid them like the plague IMHO.

I really hope that other airlines don’t go the same way – even worse on long haul when you’re trying to sleep and someone’s phone rings, having the same effect as an alarm clock! Hopefully, other more passenger-service oriented airlines will consider whether passengers really want or need such a facility, rather than just going for it on the basis of what extra money it will earn for the airline.

Anyone know what it is doing at Coventry?

En-route from the USA to New Zealand for Pioneer. Former Hydro Quebec (still in their livery) and Contract Air Cargo aircraft. Routing Shannon – Coventry – Florence, Coventry stop was seemingly added somewhat unexpectedly as it was originally planned to route Shannon – Florence direct. Departed Coventry Wednesday morning.

You cannot keep on doing that – you have to draw the line somewhere and accept that those placed in a position of responsibility, be they pilots or security screeners or whatever, are doing what they are paid to do. We just do not have the knowledge and experience to make reliable judgements. If we do not do that, the ultimate logical conclusion is that we don’t fly anywhere ever, because our personal insecurities would mean we don’t trust anyone, whether seen or unseen, to ensure our safety.

The BM 737 incident is not an appropriate comparison – for one it is an incident where it was grossly evident what was wrong which meant even a layman was capable of forming a reasonably reliable judgement, and for two any input from cabin to flight deck wouldn’t be so easy to implement anyway these days because of the locked door policy

The Turkish does have a touch of the leans, as evidenced by the pole and the buildings – needs slight clockwise rotation, but the revised version is rotated too much. The CSA I can’t make sense of.

Anyway, most of the a.net screeners are idiots who are far too anal these days. I’m glad I’m not doing that job anymore, and indeed I really can’t be bothered with the site at all now. There are other outlets for good photographers to exhibit their work, and many who want to move on realise that fact sooner or later.

Absolute non-sensical paranoia. You have no idea what might worry a passenger, and no skills in profiling likely threats. Would you challenge a guy walking down the street because he looked a bit shifty or because he’d got a foreign accent? Would you even call the cops about such a person in the streets, if they weren’t actually committing a crime? No, I didn’t think so. Mind your own business, ignore the other passengers, trust the security clearing of passengers to the professionals who do it day in day out, and sit back and enjoy the ride.

Was on the BBC Midlands breakfast news again this morning. Now saying that they need to raise £1m. Last week it was £250k. Seems like they still haven’t got their story straight on how much they really need!! 🙁

Good stuff Peter… I shall be in New York in less than two weeks time, and this time LGA is the main part of the plan – I’ve done JFK too often now.

This has to be the most pointless publicity stunt ever!

Maybe pointless to you, but I’m sure Asda had a motivation for doing it, in fact I know they did but that’s another story. Besides which, its still in Asda colours today and with Bruntingthorpe having a rolling thunder type open day today, its all advertising for Asda.

found these pics from Airliners.net. never heard of the 747-4J6 cargo…

Its a 747-4J6(LCF), a conversion of a standard passenger 747-400 that will be used to move parts of the 787 from around the world to Seattle for assembly. The “J6” bit is just the Boeing customer number, indicating that the aircraft was originally built for (and was previously operated by) CAAC/Air China – there are many other 747-4J6 aircraft around, but only one has been converted into a 4J6(LCF). Boeing will eventually have three 747-400(LCF)s.

interesting next it will be runways up on walmarts roofs so you can go on holiday as well as shop at the same time

Nah, rumour is that next the Super Guppy is going to be painted up in Tesco colours, so on one side of the airfield it’ll be “Always lower prices” and on the other it’ll be “Every little helps” – supermarket wars in rural Leicestershire! 🙂

Looks like someone’s been flying over Bruntingthorpe! Is she as ugly ‘in the flesh’?

I can’t fly and take photos at the same time – honest! :dev2: And yes it does look as ugly! Fortunately the other side is still Olympic Airways.
