Excellent… I’ve seen a pic on Ringwayreports, but have you got the bmi 757 yet Grey?
Andy
I gather that the number of Beluga movements through Chester is about to increase quite a bit – Rolls Royce will shortly start sending their engines and other engine accessories to Toulouse on Belugas from Chester, rather than using road and/or air from EMA.
Andy
Maybe they’ll open the airfield again? Air Scotland could do fly in tours ? 😎 😉
Yeah, GLA-East Fortune on a 757 sounds like a real money spinner to me! :p
Andy
Indeed, the locals will be complaining about congestion on all those narrow roads you seem to have to drive along to get to the museum soon! 🙂
Andy
ohh god what is happening to them are they going to start charters again? or what.
Jeez! 😡 How difficult is it! 😮 In my post, I said why they’d acquired it!
When you start from having a visitor or two once in a blue moon, clocking up a large percentage increase isn’t exactly a challenge! 😉
Andy
PS: I think it looks dreadful. Don’t think I’ll be doing any of my US trips via IAD this summer
If they re-do the rudder it’ll need rebalancing… I suspect it will stay like it is for now because the a/c won’t get much downtime
Andy
Apparently after it arrived at BOH, one of the EAL wags in the hangar changed the registration to G-PIGP – G-FIGP is meant to be Formula One Grand Prix and the a/c is to be used as team transport for Minardi, as previously was G-GPFI.
Its gone into the paintshop and is coming out in OzJet-style colours, blue and white etc.

How about you cynics get off your behinds and go and show us how to start up an airline as it should be done then!
The much-heralded launch, followed by the postponement and collapse of the website, the subsequent claim that services would start before the end of May, and now no firm commitment on when services will actually start do not inspire confidence. In fact, on the face of it, it would be reasonable to suggest that a degree of business naivety was displayed in the way the project has been started.
I too am cynical – that doesn’t mean I could set up my own airline, it just means that having kicked around this business for nearly 20 years I have doubts about its long term viability. Clearly, if the funding is in place as has been inferred, then others do not share the doubts myself and some others have expressed. Good for Alpha1! But Sandy, there is a world of a difference between being cynical and actually hoping that the project will fail, which I don’t think any of us would wish to see happen – I do hope Alpha1 proves myself and the other doubters wrong, but that doesn’t reduce our rights to express our opinions right now.

Mmm! Nice Antonov!

When the launch was originally delayed, it was said on the temporary website that they’d be up and running before the end of May… Three weeks to go then!

Ewww! Nice day in prospect tomorrow then, and wind favours 06. I may well do MAN. If I make it, I’ll be south side until the switch at 12 (may catch Ren’s airplane landing then!), probably hang around for the Icelandair 757 going off to IAD at 12:20 (not confident it’ll be parked well for a good photo from the multi-storey car park), then drive round to the mutli-storey, the AVP or whatever – get there by 13:00 I’d guess. May have to go into the office later (after the runway switch again) as I’m going to be “working from home” – ahem!
Andy
Informed sources tell me the MAN-IAD is on the Icelandair 757 from tomorrow (Thursday) – it should be positioning into MAN sometime today. Expected paint job is basic Icelandair with BMI logos on the front end and tail.

3) Airbus A330 that had a dark blue and white tail. The body was completely white, engines were dark blue and the colours on the tail were together in a curved shape and had a yellow-orange symbol on its tail.
4) the same airline but an A319
Those sound like Egyptair to me.
