Here’s another horror story, and if the US now emulates ‘Japan’s Lost Decade’, it won’t just be the US consumer that’s “toast, done, finished”:

This radome actually is the same as presented on 901 at MAKS, before it was replaced by the one with pitot for the test flights.
6 prototypes? Where did you found that? AFAIK there will be 3 flying ones and 1 static testframe. Maybe they counted in the Su-30MK2 and the two Su-27M airframes which were used to test specific technologies such as the radar, FCS and engines?

R u sure? The pitot-less @ MAKC’07 was a shiny dark grey, ‘902’ is a matt light grey- whether that means different paint job or new material, I don’t know.

Iirc, I read somewhere (I think it was a Kremlin fund allocation report) the 6th prototype would be production representative (i.e. ‘906’). But then again the original Su-27M had 11(?) 701-711.

Looking forward to Pit’s World exclusive pics of Venezuelan Su-35s!! 😉

‘902’ appears to have a new radome (pitot-less) with a matt finish.
Isn’t 6 prototypes a bit excessive for a new (albeit evolved) Flanker?

Re: MTC 2011-2020. A manager of one of the Russian defense plants said the following projects were offered to India:

    a fifth-generation fighter based on Sukhoi’s T-50 aircraft,
    a new- generation tank,
    a new supersonic missile, BrahMos-2,
    a new-generation frigate and
help in developing India’s nuclear-powered submarine of its own design.

    …must be love, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh. 😎

I wonder why they specifiy that the IAF jet will have different wings? Are they going to be that much different, and what for?

Increased fuel capacity, compensating for the second seat.

With latest SSBN beeing developed (Triomphant, Borey, 094) i am questioning the “need” for SSN to track and hunt them. In a war, would an opponent be able to keep track and hunt down every enemy SSBN?

You’re kidding me right? Any Blue-Water Navy worth it’s salt needs modern SSNs- especially the Russians as they’ll never match US CVN numbers.

An effective counter to the CBG is the SSN- in which field the Russians are probably World leaders.
Watch how effectively the Indian Navy utilises their Akula IIs in the Indian Ocean, it’s not only about hunting SSBNs.

Speaking of which, a touch of nostalgia:

BS. It was NOT deregulation but OVER REGULATION. It was the US government pressuring/forcing the free market to give loans under circumstances that the free market would otherwise have not done.

Thankyou. Myself, the Financial Centres/Central Banks of the World & Congress stand corrected- truly formidable you & that ‘numbers guy’. Thanks again 😮

Except the 1st generation stuff is power hungry, runs hot and has a higher failure rate. Other than that, it’s golden.

With so much COTS (including GaN MMICs) available, I’m sure NIIP’s PAK-FA system will be a very capable set. The Zhuk-AE seems to be ‘learning curve’ demonstrator analagous to 1st gen. US sets- the RuAF has shown no interest in it.

The Russians rate Irbis so highly an AESA upgrade is ruled out.

On a side note, I wonder if the Russians will establish permanent air-bases on Venezuela? I wonder if Russians will fly Venezuelan Su-35s?

RAND’s analysis shows that a Taiwan Straits air war in 2020 exposes alarming concerns about the limits of US reliance on stealth, forward basing and beyond visual range combat. (Spoiler alert: the Chinese win.):

What has happened in the last week IS NOT an example of classic capitalist models. It is an example of very poor economic and monetary policy, based on inaccurate data, combined with some corruption for good measure.

If large buys of additional F-22s were made, it wouldn’t be unrealistic to see $100-110M/airframe pricing.

Well actually what happened was an example of excessive financial market deregulation (as per classical capitalism), Central Bank incompetence & greed.

As for your point on the F-22- I couldn’t agree more, it’s just that ‘numbers guy’ needs convincing that the less you produce, the more unit costs will rise (as per F-22, B-2 etc.).
