I had a good day on Monday at Southend, but the end of the pier is not the right place to be for stills, unfortunately.
Even so, I’ve managed to get some Catalina shots that, with a bit of work, don’t look tooooooooo bad: ( I reserve the right to pull them off if they’ve come out really bad)
:p
Ahh – well – an offshore display, to include classic & modern jets going supersonic.
As well as all the other stuff you can possibly imagine.
I’ve got a vague recollection that single engined piston aircraft are banned from flying over London
So are aerobatics, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen – I’ve seen a helicopter doing a stall turn (chandelle?) over the west end before now! Maybe s/he got away with it by calling it some other kind of turn. Or else nobody else recognised it for what it was.
Or, if you support Vulcan XH558, ‘Money’…
😀
Someone spoke? 😉 :p
Okay – it’s Southend tomorrow for me.
Anyone else going? Its a long way, and I’d like to leave this evening – but no where to stay.
If anyone living en-route from Plymouth to Southend would like to put me up for the evening – I’ll drive them there and back, in return if they’d care to join me.
I can go m5-m4-m25-etc or m5-a30-a303-m3-m25-etc – or make a reasonable detour.
Its a 5 hour journey so want to leave at about 6pm this evening. Means sleeping in the car – or finding b&b London way, late at night, though if no one to pick up.
ps/ it’s only a 2 seater car – Honda CRX – so sorry, only 1 passenger.
Ahh – the difference between a Reliant and an SR71 must be the number of wheels:

Reliants only have 3 – while an SR71 has 8!!

🙂
Oh yeah and what’s going on at Breighton?
What is a PFA Strut Fly in? – I’m just 60 miles from Truro – what is likely to be there?
I cant find much about the Schneider Trophy races – is there any detail anywhere? Never been to the IOW.
A great idea – for next season, I would think though. There’s probably more than enough to fill the mags this year, and it will be a lot of work. Actually, it sounds as if there’s enough there (given the number of pilots) to do a regular series covering many years worth of magazines.
But isn’t there a similar thing anyway? – I’m thinking of those flying visits in another regular tome.
I expect there’s a correlation with this thread:

But don’t know for sure, just supposing.
Yes there was – something about a Mustang AIR.
Lovelly pics – could those bars be the rails along which hanger doors may have ran?
I don’t know for sure, merely speculating – but they do have a familiarity about them.
Or maybe the bed upon which a temporary metal runway may have been laid?
I’m probably way off.
Could they have anything to do with this pump up aerial?

Always bother Robbo – you just never know what you might get. Unique events and unusual situations of all kinds happen whatever the lighting conditions. And sometimes that’s more important, more fun, and more interesting than the picture quality.
Simply could never forget a 4 ship Vulcan QRA scramble demonstration & subsequent display at Finningley in 1973. 16 Olympus engines pushing all that metal vertical! What a glorious groan!
Never to be seen again
Oh yes it is – well not 4 of them, but XH558 will fly again.
Could have done with that to dispose of the spam cans parked in front of the crowdline at Kemble Delta Jets Open Day last year!!!
