Ohhh there’s more:
Really nice day too – plenty of photo (& video) opportunities and some really nice light.
I diverted – but I actually changed my mind on Friday – based on the choice of aircraft shown on the website. Got lost going to OW though, and it took me about 3 minutes from the A1 – instead of about 1 minute. Delays, what delays
I arrived a few minutes before MOTF – who flew in courtesy of the Luftwaffe 😉
Naa – your right – we couldn’t afford them expensive foreign type wheels in them days 😀
Lucky if we could find the wheels off an old pram to make a go-cart! It was years after that before I could afford a pushbike.
Ok – now point out the Nissan hut I stayed in as an Air Cadet on summer camp in, about, 1968! 😀
I was in the Squadron based at Pendeford, or Wednesfield, at the time! Sorry, don’t know the numbers.
Nah. Good scanners are going to be around for a while yet. Oh, you mean F-104s! The Italian retirement is coming right up Sir…
No plonker 😀 I meant the photos!!!! 😮 😮
No Miss Demeanor on Monday 🙁
Its too late, I’m rambling now!
🙁
And that, of course, is why I keep them all in their original format. The pictures above have been, errrm, “manipulated”. I’m hoping that technology, and my own skills and techniques, will exist and improve in the future to recover even the blurriest shot.
I recently went through some shots I took with a pocket camera, from shows I barely remember going to, and there were some very nice objects – I don’t remember seeing a Starfighter perform, for instance, but I have fuzzy photo’s so must have seen it!
I must get a better scanner before they disappear completely.
The airshow is a business and grants money to its choosen charities.
True, but nothing to stop a collection – a nearby bucket suitably signed would bring in a few bob for starters.
The day a Lightning or Vulcan fly in this country again will prove how popular these jets are,the queues will be loooooong
But you’ll find me near the front!
but how often I overheard “enthusiasts” boasting with their knowledge:
A P-40 being was recognized as “Hurricane”, or a Hurricane became a “Spitfire” because of the roundels or a silver (Griffon) Spitfire becomes a “Mustang” because of the bubble canopy, etc. etc. etc. …
On Sunday, at Southend, one “knowledgeable” chap insisted that the Falcon’s Hercy Bird was a “Nimrod” – Why? What? How? – It has a refueling probe!
😮 😮 😮 😀
Not all of us do, I like CW & earlier jets, such as the Vulcan, Lightning, Hunter, Vampire, Venom, etc…. Love ’em!
Modern ones, just don’t have the same sort of presence, for me, though.
My favourite day out is a trip to Kemble.
My query was based on said articles, and I was wondering if it would be possible to do a more in depth study now, with computer modelling, simulation, etc.
Certainly adjusting the elevator mass balance effected a partial cure, but even so there were similar accidents after ALL the mods had been put in place. According to AM.
Whitworth thread mice
Are they the ones responsible for all the raisins?
Those head on views are fantastic – great shots.
Now I know why so many people believe in flying saucers! They are, of course, clearly deaf! But from a distance ………
