AKAIK she has been indoors since her retirement. First at Hendon and later at Soesterberg.. She seems to be in very good condition. But I think the museum would never let her go….
Thanks, one more question .
Is it true that Dutch Hurricanes in the East Indies that served briefly.
That there is no photographic history, of these aircraft with the orange triangle??
Or is this an internet myth?
Nope it is not an internet myth…
I have this ’60’s book on Military Aviation in the Dutch East Indies. And there is a question to the reader if there are any photo’s around of the Dutch Hurricanes….
They served so briefly that there was no time to take a picture…..
The Finnish AF could be a good source of airworthy Hawks. They have plenty of them. And they also sell to the open market.
Hawks will be out of hours by the time they are finally retired. They’ve already had the wing replacement programme, and the fuselage replacement programme.
There are more Hawks on this planet than the RAF ones…
Then there is the Thai scrap yard we see photos of…lots if neat stuff in there, I rather fancy a Fantrainer, but there must be some reason they’re there.
In 2010 I visited the RTAF museum at Don Mueng, and there were 7 or 8 Fantrainers on display! Some of them weren’ t even finished…. So there must be some issues with them…
Aren’t there any Gnats airworthy?
The first type that comes to my mind in comparison to the Lizzie is the Henschel HS -126
Carrie Fisher, the actress who played Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies.
May the Force be with You, Carrie.
IMHO the F-86D/K/L Sabre is a smart looking aircraft.

There is also the fact that the Russians were putting up false trails and smokescreens regarding the investigations on MH-17. And everytime some news on MH-17 was released, the Russians came with a total other story stating the opposit . Also the rebels contributed to this with a story that MH-17 left Amsterdam with already dead passengers
I am not pointing fingers at who is responsible but the Russians have been frustrating things from the beginning.
[Q1UOTE=PhantomII;2323741]Two questions:
1. What type of helicopter is that on that ship? (Alouette III?)
2. What type is in the shot from inside the cockpit? (MiG-29?)
All fantastic shots by the way.[/QUOTE]
1, Yes a Al.3 from the Belgian Navy
Interesting that the Belgium military supported the event with 3 fast jets in formation, which rather contrasts with the RAF and their presence at UK public events these days ( regal birthdays aside)
Well, it was a Belgian Military event….
That one came from Sweden, along with a second less complete example, now in Lelystad, The Netherlands I think.
Yes, it is in Lelystad at the Aviodrome museum.
Not a FW -189. Those had a swept wing.
