If “B” goes…..would it be better for MC with an all “C” fleet (simplified mait. req.and simplified training) or go with a mixed “C” SH fleet?

It seems that one of the big issues with the “B” is weight………so…..could the “B” be designed to take the bigger “C” wing?

You never risk a Major Fleet Unit unless you have to. USN Carrier Defense is based on Multiple Layers. So, the greater the distance between it and any project threat the better.

When a Carrier is projecting power (Strike) in comes in launches it strike at maximum range and then retreats as soon as it recovers it.

Nonetheless, the point is not to reveal the Carrier position to any potential threats if possible.

In short it makes “Perfect Sense”.

Please please please STUDY a subject befor you comment on it! Its really sad to read your posts here. AND the topic is “IF the 35B is canned”. So the discussion SHOULD be about what the Marines will do IF it is. If you cant agree with that, good, but please dont comment on this thread.

Having great huge CVNs and not using them because they are somehow “Threatened” makes no sense.

The M60 is a bit tall for tank-to-tank combat (in common with many US tanks) but if I were a tank commander surrounded by thousands of potential rioters I think I’d feel a lot safer (psychologically) that high up! 😀

Presumably you can get (crawl) from the driver’s compartment to the fighting compartment in an M1?

On the M-1 you can get to the drivers compartment from the turret only when the gun is over the back deck.

lots of room in the 60. M-1 is cramped, except the driver……he was most comfortable.

we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. If it turns out to be the start of a new age of democracy and freedom in Egypt, well……Wonderful! Lets hope it goes that way! If it doesnt, and Egypt goes to the extremist model, well then we’ll all have a great time reading in this forum about how it was all the United State’s (and more specificaly George Bush’s) fault.:D

Last time I checked Iran was a US ally before the Islamic revolution……. the US is in big trouble if repeated in Egypt

Agree. Getting a big sense of deja-vu. How many F-16 in EAF? Not to mention about 1000 M-1s!
