Delays on large projects like this are pretty much inevitable. This does not mean anything.
I would not think the wing box can be converted to have an additional door. The wingbox is the main support structure so you should not make cuts in it.

9L-LDN… L1011 TriStar 100 msn 1221 first flight in 1981. Started life with TWA as N31033 (so, an old friend from LHR then), then SE-DPP with Time Air Sweden, TF-ABM with Air Atlanta and various lessees, C-GRYU with Royal Aviation, back to Air Atlanta, XU-122 with Kampuchea Airlines and finally 9L-LDN.
So did TWA also put their galleys under the cabin? Never knew that. Learn something every day!

CO has already placed orders for the 787. NW has already stated it will follow, but first has some paperwork to sort out. Another US airline that ordered 787s is Primaris, a newly set-up full-service airline. In the future I think AA, DL and UA may follow (in that order). But that will be a few more years. First they have to sort out their financial mess. In particular UA.
The A380 will probably not be ordered by US passenger airlines. There simply is not enough demand for them. Only NW might use them on select Asian routes. However there are not enough of those routes to warrant buying enough A380s to make it profitable. They will stick with 747s and perhaps more modern derivatives. US cargo airlines will definately take the A380. FedEx and UPS have already ordered some.
US customers:
AIRBUS A380
DHL 10+10
FedEx 10+10
BOEING B787
Continental 10
Northwest (to be announced, around 15-18)
Primaris 20+15

Also, note how the tristar pictured is probably ex Eastern. You can tell by the extra door in the wingroot. It was the entry to the galley which Eastern had under the pax cabin. As far as I know only Eastern took that option.

Am I jealous? – YES!
Why? – You saw a Tristar, and not to mention a TU-204!!!
I’m not a lucky git at all. Had I been really lucky I would have been able to make photos of five different tristars today, all at AMS! 😉
I’m just happy I got 9L-LDN since they will not be returning again. Two of the others I’ll definately see again. One of them after all is stored and the other is frequently subchartered by Onur. Just one I missed and will not likely see again anytime soon, if at all. And one other I did see but got crap photos from as it took of from the wrong runway.
Todays Tristar list:
9L-LDN Star Air (got that one)
EX-044 Skygate International (seen in basic Delta livery, but crappy photos)
JY-SGI Skygate International (missed)
CS-TMP Luzair (missed, but comes here regularly)
CS-TMR Luzair (stored, already had that one)

Phuket are indeed banned effectively yesterday. Yesterday it was also revealed that Onur is being watched very closely now. The plane banned today was a subcharter for Onur. Seems there is a reason to keep Onur under supervision. Some of their A300s do are in a right state.
About Phuket, they want to re-route to BRU. If BRU allows that is not yet clear.

That would be AP-BGL, tenthije. Arrived at MAN about 12:10. 🙂
Thank you! Photo turned out rather blurry, but still recognisable a PIA 777.
