Thats the baby! With some ‘tweaking’ with the fuselage, IMO this design could be a re brand just as is, or that tail logo could form part of an otherwise fresh livery. I like it, a cool mix of national identity and modernism. Would certainly stand out on a crowded apron.
Is this not a logo from the British Olympic Association? British Airways would presumably not be allowed to use it without the BOA’s permission. I am not sure if the BOA would authorise its use beyond special promotional use around the olympics.
I always liked the Chelsea Rose design quite a lot. Maybe they can go for that one.
Could you elaborate on that, please? 😮
In the past a potentially large sale to Iran did not happen. Due to the amount of US content on the Tu-204 the sale was blocked because of the US embargo. Had the Tu-204 had less US content then the sale would have been possible. That’s why Iran for instance flies a lot of F100s. They have only a small amount of US content.
That An12 was spotted in northwest England flying northwards this afternoon. Call sign MEM4092.
That’s the plane alright, callsign was indeed MEM4092. It’s headed for Reykjavík, Iceland. Don’t know why. For what it’s worth, a Miami Air 738 (N734MA) departed two hours later with the same destination, also a military charter.
Yours are Megabits/second but mine is measly Kilobits 🙁
I would imagine that the Netherlands would generally have a better connection then Lagos. But it also helps that I am at the beginning of the street just metres away from the cable-hub that feeds my cityblock. Would not surprise me if I have the best connection in my block purely due to proximity.

Download 64,55 Mb/s
Upload 9.04 Mb/s
PING 15 ms
http://www.speedtest.net/
I got 2.00, 0.18Mbps, 115Mbps.
Doesn’t look as good as yours, but then I don’t know what it means!:o
Actually, yours is quite a bit better then 27vet’s. The first is the download speed, how much you can download per minute. The second the upload, how much you can send per minute. The higher the better. The last one measures the time it takes for data to be transferred. Anyway, the lower the better.

Might it be AirLanka? The original name for Sri Lankan.
48 minutes by train to Lelystad Centrum. Then 11 minutes by bus, line 148 to Harderwijk. When you take the intercity train you will have 8 minutes to get to the bus.

There goes Air France’s No Claims Bonus.
since 2000 they’ve written off a Concorde, an A340 and an A330. I would hazard a guess that their no claims bonus ain’t worth all that much.
(Semi seriously: I wonder how many on board the CRJ700 will be putting in claims for “whiplash injuries“?
Like I once joked insurance companies should be allowed to buy advertising space on the outside of winglets: “if you can read this, call us at 0800-CRASH for a good settlement!”.
As for who is to blame, too early to tell. Could be the Air France crew, could be the Delta (Comair) crew. It’s even possible neither of them is fully to blame, but that blame lies with ground control or apron control.
It does show why it is important to keep the seat belts tightened untill instructed by the crew it is safe to take them off!
Small video of the Holland class patrol vessel undergoing sea trials.
The plans for budget cuts at the MoD have been announced. A total of 10.000 people will be made redundant in a bid to save a billion euro. This will mean that the armed forces are no longer capable of long term missions like Uruzgan. Instead they will be forced to perform smaller missions, such as the current missions to enforce the no-fly zone near Libya and the anti-piracy missions near Africa.
The navy will scrap four of ten minehunters. The airforce will loose all their Cougar helicopters and some F-16s. The army will loose all their tanks.
EDITED TO ADD 08APR:
As already rumoured earlier, of the four OPV’s under construction two of them will be put up for sale immediately upon delivery. Oman is rumoured to be interested in them, and that this is also (part of) the reason for the state visit of queen Beatrix to Oman a few weeks ago.
Do I get a prize for guessing where this is heading?
Stay on topic please.
If you think this is headed to general discussions:

If not, please disregard this mail. :diablo:

Peter (bored at work, so please don’t ban me cause I would not know what to do :p)
Interesting development on the AN-12. The IVW (Inspectie Verkeer & Waterstaat, the Dutch aviation autorities) have grounded the antonov. The reasons provided by the IVW include:
Very nice! You where very lucky with the Antonov and the Blue1. Whenever I go to AMS Blue1 use the Avro which look very dull compared to their very smart 717s.
I was at AMS last sunday, will post some photos sometime this week.
I’m not sure that’s even legal!
I’m not sure. It’s a tax, and those can be specified. It’s quite common for a invoice to have a seperate line for VAT.
To take another example from trucking: companies can charge road tolls (e.g. London congestion zone surcharge, the German Maut surcharge) seperately from their tariffs. But I get no or at best limited choice whether I want the truck to avoid the LCZ or the German Autobahn.
