A big plane requires a big anti-collision light!
Great photos, I love 134’s. Great thing about AMS is they seem to park great aircraft of that stand right by the deck(IRA A300,Baltic 146 etc last week!).
Just alarm me when you are dropping over. You seem to be extremely lucky. It does not happen often that the really interesting planes are parked at the closest gate.
Decided to go to AMS a bit in a hurry. I heard that Pulkovo was bringing in a TU134 and that is reason enough for me to make the trip. There where more goodies though. Vega Airlines AN-12 and a Air Luxor Tristar and Iran Air 747SP as well. I did get to see the Tristar and 747SP, but did not get a photo of it. I gave it a good try though, as I must have gone through the sound barrier on the back roads trying to catch it. 😉
Dutch planes left out. In bold the odd ones.

1) A new airline that I have seen twice. This is my first good photo of it.
2) Parked at the maintenance hangars in the back is the Surinam Airways 747. It does not yet have the proper documentation and is therefore grounded. Note that the registration has been changed back to the Dutch registration. It did wear the “new” Surinamese registration for a few weeks.
3) My first view of Air Baltic. Was about time too, they have been flying to AMS for quite a while now.
4) Trying something new. As if I needed a sign to know where I am.
Rudolf is getting some competition.
The last ones, “off-topic”.

Sorry, 16 photos from NCL
With photos like that, I will forgive you.
It was about time they returned Condor. Now if only they got rid of the blue it would be even better.
A bit late but I hope you had a good birthday.
Very nice pictures. Are Atlas Jet a new Turkish Charter Airline along the same lines as Onur Air and Pegasus?
No they have been around for quite a while now. This is a new livery for them though, so that may have confused you. Their old livery is shown in my photo, incidentally also shot at DUS, the 17th of august last year.
The logistics are indeed mind-boggling, but the same goes for any plane. The 747 has the same logistic mess. There too parts come from all over the world. Parts ranging in size from nuts and bolts to complete tails and engines.
As for the “complicated nature of waiting for tides”, how complicated is that? The tides are easily predictable. And you may have to wait for a day, but so what? You don’t seriously think that the A380 is made using a just-in-time system like used in the automotive industry do you?
In fact, even in the much fabled automotive industry the just-in-time system has significant margins build in. I arrange shipping sea containers with car parts over the ocean. Between the time my company picks up the goods from suppliers to the moment we deliver them at Ford on the other side of the atlantic takes 25 to 30 days. A container could miss a ship and still be on time to meet the deadline. There would be (a lot of) aditional costs, but it is possible.
Hmmm, I’d make the forward blue section a bit curvier like on the tail. Other than that it is a great livery. Much better than that ridiculous current (previous) livery.
That first one is a new one for me. Never seen that livery before. Must say that i prefer their old livery, this seems a bit cheap. Never seen Carpatair either. Seems like it is getting time for me to visit DUS again (and try the German Autobahn!).
Is that one real? I don’t know why, but I get the impression it is a photo shop.
