Look at it from the bright side, at least the fighting has returned to the general discussion forum instead of commercial aviation!

You must have missed it! 😀

You might just as well get it in Amsterdam! It will be here from June 16th to June 19th. After that it will jump the Channel to London where it will stay till the 22nd. From the 22nd to 24th it will visit Glasgow.

Those are the places most important for this board (considering the massive amount of Brits here). A complete itinerary can be found here:

What’s left of the archives of Fokker (and other Dutch manufacturers like Koolhoven) are now part of the Aviodrome collection. Most of it is obvioulsy from after WW2 but there is also a lot from before the war.

Why would you consider it a definite route? Because AMS has a lot of loco’s? I think that if anything no new loco will survive an entry into AMS because of all the loco’s already present. The competition is very stiff!

Some of the loco’s here include Easyjet, Basiqair (Transavia), BMI Baby (and BMI “proper” is quite cheap too), Jet2, Helvetic (starting June), Virgin Express, Sky Europe…….

Now if they wanted to start flights to Rotterdam, Dusseldorf or Brussels I’dl give them a few more months. 😉

are the nose wheels in the nose or still on the airframe, but “kneeled”? How does the process work to let the aircraft kneel?

Kneeling the plane is really quite simple. The nosegear retracts forward. On the ground this can be used as well. First the nose is opened, and then the gear is retracted halfway. The result is that the nose will go downwards a few feet making loading a lot easier.

Who the f*ck is Morrissey? What did he/she do to deserve getting an airport named after him/her?

Indeed they can. Only those that booked from tour operators like Holland International, Sun Tours and Arke have had their flight. This was contractually arranged with said tour operators and as such the tour operators have to abide to the contract. They have had to book other flights. KLM has had a killing selling tickets at rather inflated prices.

Regrettably not. The EXEL group has bought the company when it was already declared bankrupt. As such all responsibilities where declared void prior to the take over.

All of Air Hollands assets are being distributed evenly among those that owe money from Air Holland. Those that owe services (basically flights) from Air Holland come on a 2nd place. Since Air Holland was in massive debts, it is unlikely that the passengers will receive anything.

Air Holland did not have a lot of assets either. They rented the offices, they leased the planes….. there’s nothing to be had from Air Holland.

The EXEL group has bought the slots and taken up the bulk of the former Air Holland personnel. Some of the leasing contracts of the planes have been taken up by the EXEL group as well. All 767s have been taken up, but I am not sure if the 757s will be taken up. I have the impression the 757 won’t be taken up but am not sure of that.

1.When a schedualed airline goes bust do they have to get another airline to do their flights as soon as possible?
2.When a CHARTER airline goes bust do the tourists have to make their own way back on another airline or do they get picked up as soon as possible, sorry if this is confusing,I’ll explain if you have any problems with it!
    thanks, 😉

    1. Once an airline is bankrupt, and I mean completely bankrupt, chapter 9 and not chapter 11, they can not do anything. All activities will seize unless the caretaker says otherwise. The caretaker will normally not do that unless continuing service will gain more money than stopping service. THis is not normally the case, otherwise the airline would not be bankrupt! The sole task of the caretaker is to pay of as much of the debtors as possible. A task which is normally not met by a long shot.

A passenger who has booked a flight on a bankrupt airline, looses all money. Larger airlines are a member of an international agency that will offer (partial) refunds or arrange other transport. I believe IATA does that?

    2. If the passenger bought the ticket straight from the charter airline, then the same rules apply as with a normal airline. However, most passengers buy their tickets from a tour company. Since they sold the tickets they are responsible. Therefore if their supplier (the airline) forfeits delivery, the tour company has to arrange new transport for its customers (the traveller).

In the past I heard of air forces flying their passenger configured planes to holiday spots to pick up nationals that where stranded after a bankruptcy. Suffice to say that you should not count on that to happen all the time!

Have you considered just ignoring them? They ignore you, you ignore them and everyone is happy.

They should sell that in the Netherlands. It will sell really well for matches with the national football team. Choosing between 2 hours in make-up to get orange or drinking something is an easy choice. Can it be mixed with Vodka?
