Why start with a DSLR? I mean, sure they are the best money can buy, but you do need a lot of money to buy it. Especially if you do not already have lenses that are compatible with the DSLR.
You could start with a cheaper digital compact with a sizeable optical (!!! NOT DIGITAL !!!) zoom. The Sony F707/717 series are really good and easily available and rather cheap(ish) on the internet.
Today I finally picked up my F717 from someone who sold me his camera over the internet. I immediately tried it out at Schiphol (DUH) and the results are excellent!
Here a publicity picture of the proposed F130. I scanend it from a book so there is a line over the nose. That’s because the picture was spread over two pages.
I posted the picture once before, but I figured this is as good an excuse to plug it as any! Since it is a rare picture I think I can get away with it (PLEASE?). I can not plug it directly since I do not pay for my pbase account. If I had done that I could have done a direct plug.
I scanend this picture from “Fokker en de twintigste
eeuw, een historische relatie”, written by Wim C.J. van
Westerdrop. It has been published by the Fokker Heritage
Trust and Aviation Museum Aviodome Schiphol. As far as I
am aware there is no English version of this book.
I hope this is allowed, with copyright and everything

IKEA’s first attempt at entering the airplane business.
I heard the same rumour on the Dutch Spotters Mailing List:
…………………………..
At East Midlands we have a booking for arrival on Sunday night, departing lunchtime Monday-should be worth seeing and hearing!!
Regards JAS.
…………………………..
I thought that in those circumstances they added the nationality:
US Air Force 1
French Air Force 1
UK Air Force 1 (or just Blair Force 1?)
etc…
How do you mean, all Dutch air shows have been cancelled?
I thought only the Lelystad air show was cancelled? The RNLAF Air Show is still on… right? I did intend on going there, alhtough it may be ahrd to combine with the Paris Air Show. Excellent scheduling…
Also, only a few weeks ago there was an airshow in Harreveld. They do that every year, remove the cows from some fields and the Achterhoek suddenly gets itself an international airport!
Unfortunately just for one day. 🙁
Unfortunately the Frontier A318 will only be on Wednesday the 18th. A trading day… 🙁

If you mean the tube-staff, I have never seen one outside the station. I have never had a problem with the plice though. Last year I stayed in London for school and I was at LHR almost once every 3 weeks. Never had a problem!
I tended to move away a bit from the station because you are looking into the sun. Just walk around a bit and you will find something nice. In the end I usually ended up in the residential area, near the aviation catering.
You can still make excellent photo’s from airplanes landing on 27L/R. I am affraid there is no good place on 09L/R. If there is one, it is not accesible by public transport.
To go to the place on 27L/R you should go to Hatton Cross underground station. This is the 2nd station from Terminal 4 and the 1st station from Terminal 1/2/3. If you happen to be by car, this is where you can park. I do not know the costs of parking your car.
At Hatton Cross the planes coming in on 27L will be flying right by you. 70-150 mm lense will do just fine. If runway 27R is used, you still shuld take the train to Hatton Cross/park you car at Hatton Cross. From there you should walk north, you will end up in the approach of 27R. As a bonus you will cross the road where planes cross the road.
Seems to be on an airshow. Farborough?
Glamour as described by the Longman dictonary:
“The exciting and charming quality of something unusual of special, with a magical power of attraction.“
With this in mind I think that aviation has already lost most of its glamour. What remains of the glamour will be retired in a few months. Yes… I am of course refering to Concorde.
Nowadays people are no longer in awe when you fly. Even if you were to fly 1st class the reaction is not to large anymore. Perhaps for a minture or 5, but then the awe gone, and the conversation switches to football.
Perhaps the private jet can come close to the glamour appeal of Concorde.
KLM has/had a codeshare with Indian low cost airline Jet Airways. I believe the only KLM flight is/was the India-Amsterdam run. I do not know which Jet Airways flight(s) got KLM codes.
It is AeroMexico.
Note the phone number on the bottom:
1-800-*** = 1-800-237-6639
237 can only mean AER (well it can mean a lot, but this is an aviation bulletin board…), so trace down all airlines starting with AER. There are not many of them. AER LINGUS, AER ARRAN, AEROMEXICO.
Then after Saab-2000 mentioned what that little Angel was supposed to be all pieces fell together.
No, but that does not matter…
Rumsfeld said earlier this week that these weapons might have been destroyed prior to the war. Foruntaly he has refound his ignorance because he is now saying again that the WMD’s will be found after all.

Also, mister Wolfowitz has declared there were more reasons for invading Iraq.

“The other factor he describes as “huge” was that an attack would allow the US to pull its troops from Saudi Arabia, thereby resolving a major grievance held by al-Qaeda.”
So either the US wants to leave the gulf entirely (fat chance), or they just wanted another host for their armed forces. Turn Iraq into a military base and pull back off Saudi Arabia.
So in the end it does not matter if WMDs are not found. Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz said so themself… and he must be right!
