At LCY I once saw a car that must have been parked a long time as it was covered in dust. Next to the usual ones like “clean me” it had various dates written on it (spanning at least 2 weeks). The best one though was “now an official tourist attraction”. I should have taken a photo of that one.

The real report is not out, and the Telegraaf is not the best source of information. It’s kind a like “The Sun” for the Netherlands.
Only magic beans reach to the sky. I thought the fairy tale made that pretty clear to all.
Haven’t they already retired their A300s? We only get to see A320/321s and the occaisional MD here.
So the 747 wasn’t in transit by on Transit?
Nearly always in the tail mate. It’s like in a car crash, I’d rather be in the ash tray as that always survives. The tail is an Aeroplane’s ash tray 😉
And they say smoking kills!
It´s also been proven that it´s better for a motorcyclist to wear a base-ball hat then to wear a helmet. A Belgian study revealed this. They threw a helmet and a hat from a 10 story building, the helmet shattered into pieces, but the hat survived the fall.
And here ended the off-topic bit.
Going back on topic, does anyone have close-up shots of the plane? I’d like to be able to read all the comments on the plane.
What a shame. But I don’t think they where allowed into Europe anymore anyway. At the pace Russian airlines are retiring their Russian made planes, it won’t be long before everything is western except for cargo planes.
Close 🙂
“Schon wieder?” is the correct form.
What you said was: Nice again.
schön gut 😉 (sic)
Schön wieder? (again?)
Actually, the Flight Global article you linked to refers to the original bankruptcy from march last year. The FlugRevue article is from today.
Roughly translated from the FlugRevue article, my German ain’t perfect:
The German airline Blue Wings AG from Nordhorn has announced wednesday afternoon that all flight oeprations have been suspended.
Effective immediatley Blue Wings has suspended all flights, wednesday the 13th of january at 12:00 CET. The airline said the current financial position would not allow them to conitnue
The airline requests all passengers that have booked a flight with Blue Wings to call them at +49 (0) 180 599 99 760 to discuss the possiblity of rebooking or refunds. Blue Wings works hard to find a quick solution for the current problems.
The company flies a fleet of Airbus A320 in a two-class layout flying from Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe, Leipzig and Münster to Moscow. The airline also offered flights to Beirut and Karaganda in Kazachstan. Blue Wings is owned by the Swiss investment company Alpstream and for almost half by the Russian billionair Alexander Lebedew.
I think another reason that he had ordered the 330 is the lack of cheap leases on quad jets.
That I am not convinced about. Even in this economy there are almost no A330s parked. However, there are a few A346s parked, including a few new builds that where not taken up, Iberia for instance.
The A330 will serve them well, no doubt about it. I have been on the A330 to the USA a few times on KLM. Very nice flight!
Who?
Furthermore, I’m fairly certain I read somewhere that statistically there were more engine shut downs per million flying hours on 4-engined long haul aircraft than twins.
That seems obvious. Twice the engines, twice the potential for an engine shutdown. The thing is, with a quad you still got 75% of power left, with a twin you are down to 50%.
I have clearly missed something as I have NO idea what has caused this problem, but for what it’s worth I would be very sad to see Lance stand down as either a member or a mod.
As a member I love looking at his photography, as a mod I think he (along with Deano) does a great job and his one line put-downs make me laugh out loud on occassion.
1L.

You can’t have done that much flying then. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had to take my shoes off in the last 5 years!
Paul
About 6 to 8 flights a year for the last 3 or 4 year. So not the most active traveller, but still a good amount of flights. Most of my flights go to London but also Birmingham, Zurich, Madrid, Barcelona, Milano and most recently Washington. The next one will probably be to Salzburg in a week or two. Not yet booked so might still change my mind.
Most of the flights depart from Schiphol, but occaisionally from Eindhoven as well.
