Some orders announced in Paris already…
Qatar – 24 Airbus A320
KLM Cityhopper – firmed up 7x E-190 options
Does this come in addition to the 7 E190s announced a month or two ago, or is this a reminder to the stock brokers? :p
Good news. Do you know if the SSJ also flies on saturday and/or sunday? If so I might make the drive to Paris and back. Truth be told, the SSJ is the only thing at the Paris Air Show this year that I am truly interested in.
see for yourself π
Taken by the local newspaper, following B6’s first scheduled flight to KTYS in 10 years.
B6 is Jetblue? The photo shows a AirTran kind a contraption.
Could be the An-12BP ‘Kubrik’ avionics testbed. Sorry, but I have not been able to find a pictures online. There’s one in the Antonov An-12 Cub book by Yefim Gordon and Dimitry Komissarov published by Crowood. I’ve quickly gone through the book and it appears to be the only plane in that book that resembles your description.
I’ll assume this wil get a re-run on BBC1/2 as well? In NL we only got BBC1/2/world. BBC3/4 are available as a subscription channel, and that ain’t worth it.
I’d pull it if I where you:
1) Dust spot to the right of the aircraft nose near the border.
2) Oversharpened: registration on wing
3) Soft: wingtips, rear fuselage.
4) Bad-center: too high in the frame.

747-100 had a lot of problems. It is huge. It had engines that deform under their own weight and seize. It reacted badly to turbulence. And it did not have a range close to the later 747-200.
The biggest long-haul planes before 747 were DC-8-62 and DC-8-63.
How did the range of DC-8-62 compare with 747-100? And how did the trip costs compare?
What could possibly give you the idea the 747 was a white elephant? Is it the fact that to date nearly 1400 have been delivered? Or the fact that in its second year 92 where delivered (1970, wiki). Or the fact that it is still in production and being developed further whereas the DC-8 has long since gone, including the manufacturer of the DC-8 if I may add.
The 747 definately had teething problems. But not of all if was Boeing’s fault.
1) Engines deforming under their own weight is not the fault of the airframer. It is the fault of the engine maker, and was corrected.
2) It did not have the range of the 747-200. Well, that’s why the 747-200 is a further development of the existing model! Was the A320-100 a white-elephant because only a handfull where made? Of course not! It was the springboard to what became one of the most succesful and most important airliners in the world, same as the 747-100.
3) The economics of the 747 where much better. However, one does need to be able to fill the plane. And there is a lot of plane indeed! Many operators where unable to fill the plane and ran at a loss. Is that the fault of the plane? Of course not! The airlines knew what they where getting themselves into! ItΒ΄s not as though it was a surprise the 747 was 3 times larger then anything else around.
Feel free to call the Dassault Mercure or the Boeing 2707 a whilte elephant. Heck, even the Concorde if you want. But the 747 is far from a white elephant.

KL962 to AMS
KL1785 to HAMAbout 12:45 today there was an runway incident at NCL, when a light aircraft veered of the runway, and closed the airport for about 1 1/2 hours. A number of incoming flights circled for about 30 mins before being diverted to MME including KLM. this subsequently flew upto NCL, before leaving about 2 hrs late. 2 issues here
1:- the information systems at NCL are appalling. firstly being told it was about to land, then changed to 14:40 then changed again to 15:35. The incomimg flight did in fact arrive about 15:10. Surely as MME is not that greater distance, barely time to get off the ground, the info could have been better
2: Compare at AMS, used the KLM touch screen info, as I had missed my flight to HAM, and I had already been booked onto the later flight.
Full marks for AMS/KLM
Nul point for NCL
;)
In all fairness, when an incident happens at most minor airports (compared to AMS NCL definately qualifies as minor) will go into “headless chicken mode” for the first hour or so trying to catch up. Sure there are rulebooks on what to do, but in most cases the rulebook is the first to go out of the window due to unforseen circumstances or simply lacking information.
NCL had to deal with the incident, with numerous diversions/delays and a every passenger at the airport. On top of that, every passenger expect results immediately.
Now on the other hand, KLM had an easy job. You where delayed by 2 hours. So effectively KLM had 2 hours to re-book perhaps 20odd passengers. After all, only a part of the passengers will have a connection. That would qualify as a nuisance at worst at an airline with the manpower and resources of KLM.
Are you just interested in the figures, or as suggested, interested in how it ‘feels’ when trolling?
I corrected that sentence for your benefit. :p
Would you take a four year pause in a conversation with a friend? I suspect not! π

Well, once the girlfriend starts japping.
Actually, no I think she never quite made it to 4 years of continuous noise either.
For what it’s worth, it is auto-focus on the Canon bodies. I had the lense as well on my 10D back yesteryear. Don’t know about the Nikon as I never had one but I would not be surprised if it where auto-focus.
