Is the RAM 732 a regular visitor? If so I might have to give BRU another chance. Every time I go there the weather seems to be crap despite forecasts.
Excellent! Assuming that other airlines do not offer a better deal (how likely is that?) I will definately go to MAD once. Has been very long on my to-do list.
For what it’s worth. There are at least two of them cause today I spotted both of them outside KLM Engineering.
The other one is without engines and with the former UA registration (N190UA). The wingbox is still in UA blue, the rest of the plane is in full BlueSky livery. If the photos are any good (doubtfull considering the distance) I will put one of them in this thread.
I found a fare of 103 euro (7feb day return including taxes). For a market with “no competition” is really a damn good fare! Especially when considering day returns are normally considerably more expensive then a return spread over a few days.
You could of course always try Ryanair to EIN and take the train between EIN and AMS. Wont be much cheaper though since you will need a train ticket.
Well our mob were down there today for the demo, however the rumours doing the rounds as to who would be the likely recipient, would raise some eyebrows!!!
BMI-Baby or easyJet by any chance? Or are you not allowed to divulge more information that just a frustrating teaser. 😉
Quite a simple answer, flights are regularly overbooked.
There is a online feed somewhere from someone who plugged his SBS-1 online. Can’t find the link now, but will search for it later today.

I do not know the one with the black tail. Probably Lufthansa Cityline?
Yeah must be the same. Wierden (the salvage site) is in the Deventerwaard.
Thank you tenthije, can you keep us up to date on what is found please? 🙂
If I hear something I’ll let you know. But had you not mentioned it, I would have completely missed this salvage operation. No other media have been reporting it. Heck, finding the Telegraaf article took me an hour. The Telegraaf is usually my last ditch attempt since they are not that good a paper (think “The Sun” without page 3 girls ;)).
Dutch only:

Salvage of planewreck Wierden started.
WIERDEN – In the country side of Wierden the salvage of a British bombar from ww2 was started. The Lancaster was shot down in 1944, carrying a crew of seven. The remains are approximately 50cm below ground. “We will excavate an area of 35 by 35 metres, layer by layer”, said salvage officer Paul Petersen.
Four bodies where never recovered. It is not known if there are any bombs in the wreck. If ammunition where to be found, then roughly 100 people may have to be temporarily evacuated.
It does not say in the article if this is a new find. I am not really up-to-date on historic aviation, am more into airliners myself. Maybe someone else can give an update on that?
This is the only source I can find. I had hoped to find a more reputable source then De Telegraaf, but nothing to be found anywhere!
You are fighting gravity too much to justify the 99% of the time the planes are at peace-time status.
How about a zeppelin/airship based design? Would have to stay in friendly airspace since they are kind a vulnerable.
Well, I only need 2’000’000 more miles. Unless Virgin accepts KLM miles, then I need only 1’989’671 miles. 😉
Hmmm. Not keen from the pic, but I think it might look better in the flesh to be honest.
How will this affect Virgin Express/SNBA? Does the Virgin group still have control, no matter how little, over VEX?
I assume it is a technical/cost reason as an upward movement would require a hold up device, whilst a downward movement doesn’t 🙂
A225HVY
A downward movement also requires a hold-up device to keep it at it’s (open) position. Just as a upward movement requires a hold-up device to keep it at it’s (closed) position.
I can not remember where I saw it, but I know there is at least one plane with split slats. Half of it top to center, and the other half bottom to center.
