Consider this, the autorities want to ban laptops, cameras and other electrical equipment because it could be used to ignite the fuse of a bomb. But could the IFE not be used to do the same? Either mess around with the screen, or just cut the cable of the headset/remote control.

This new ban will accomplish nothing.

Fortunately my USA trip was a couple of weeks ago but unless things return to normal I will have to think very hard about my future photographic trips this year as my camera gear is (like a lot of people on the forum) expensive and no way would I trust it to the normal treatment that hold luggage normally gets.

Quick update from the US, approximately 14 hours ago I checked in at EWR to go home. Hand luggage is allowed, but anything fluid or gel like has to go in the hold. This includes sunlotion and bugspray (I found out the hard way) as well as drinks, shampoo, toothpaste etc. Only prescription medication is allowed in. Security lines are a real pain in the neck now.

p.s. I am now safely back home. 😀

Flown on a Dutch Dakota Association DC3, and on a De Havilland Rapide (DH-58?). Next wednesday a NWA DC9 will be added to the list, assuming the lot did not change the flight. With the luck I have had so far this holiday it will probably be changed though since everything seems to be going bad. Will probably post a rant thread somewhere in the next few weeks. 😉

How do you mean first of this type? The first DC-10-30F to Europe? You got to be joking since FedEX, DAS and a whole lot of others come here daily. I do believe this is the first Arrow DC-10 into Europe as previously they used their DC-8s.

But whats the UK getting in return?

    • A lot of USAF planes at RIAT?
    • Bush will listen to Blair before ignoring his wishes. Normally he does not even listen to other world leaders.
    • We learned what toothpaste Blair uses. (vital information)

That would be about it? 😀 😉

this second example was white with blue cheatline along windows and a cyrillic-lettering title.

Well, that only describes every airline that has a hybrid Aeroflot livery. Can’t be much more then say 200 airlines? 😀

Fighters can go at mach 3.2 or whatever, but can only do so for very short periods. After that it will have to refuel. That is why Concorde could easily beat all fighters across the ocean. The only military plane that could fly supersonic for long periods of time was the SR-71 and its pilots had space suits… and still required aerial refueling.

Very surprising to see the order for 30 Il-114s. I was not even aware they where still in production!
