As far as the B5 movies, seen them (Titles: “In the beginning” – cool, “Third Space” – ok, and “A call to arms” – very cool and the start of the spin-off series “Crusade”), think they came out with a 4th too but not sure!!!
There was also The Gathering (official pilot for B5)which by all accounts was lame but showed potential. The last one was Legend of the Rangers, which I kinda like but I seem to be the only one. In between there was The river of souls, only redeeming factor of that movie was the holo-brothel which should tell you something.
However, that was not what I meant. I actually meant NEW movies. As in, they start filming next year. 😎
Just to keep this thread in Military Aviation. What Modern day fighter aircraft is in the Pilot of SAAB and what Air Force was it from???
Those where F18s of course. Every air force in the world uses F18s. Every sci-fi fan knows that! Just why I do not know. The F18 does not strike me as particularly sci-fi-ish, but still it appears in more sci-fi flicks then any other plane.
Always loved Babylon 5, a very under rated Sci-Fi series…in my opinion at it’s time it was way better and still is better the Star Trek…more action, linear story line, better cast of characters and better ships…plus the jump gates were cool!!!
😎
Good news for you, there will be more B5 TV. A new “anthology” series of 3 straight to DVD movies will be made. If succesful more may follow.
Oh and as requested, how about a ‘Black Omega’ Star Fury… :diablo:
woohooooooo! 😉
geek mode
I know those things, and they are not Y-28s. They are actually SA-43s from the TV series Space above and Beyond. Could you not get some Babylon 5 Starfuries? They are much cooler!

Big Vern just beat me to it.
As was already indicated just hours after the plane returned, the people are not terrorists. They will all be released tomorrow.
During the whole “incident” Schiphol felt no need to take additional safety measures. No additional police, security checks etc. The anti terrorism autorities where informed, but quickly dismissed it already yesterday. Strange that noone seems to have mentioned that to the non-Dutch media.
As for the Boston lady quoted as saying: “I don’t know how close we were, but my gut tells me these people wanted to hijack the airplane.” Well, she is American… paranoia rules supreme in that corner of the world.
And as for some of the men being of “South Asian ethnicity”, well on a flight bound for India this is hardly surprising now is it?
Time difference is +1 hour for AMS.
If I come I’ll be by car before any of you come in.
Excellent news Pete, I think we could just about all fit in the VW Golf as well!
Don’t get your hopes up yet. I can’t make any guarantees at the moment. Also, by my last information there would be 5 people visiting. They are not going all in my car at once. Not only would it not fit, my insurance only covers 3 pax at a time. I do not intend to get myself into an accident, but am unwilling to run the risk.
Last time I had 4 pax in my car, admittedly that was when I still had the old banger, my tires where scraping over the wheelwells. That is no problem for the old banger as it was a write-off no matter what… but my current car still has some value and I would like to keep it that way!
Would definitly be easier for us to get to the Polderbaan and Kagbaan with you there! (Correct my spelling if wrong ;)).
definately
Kaagbaan
there should be driving. If I where at the Kaagbaan or Polderbaan, then I would not be able to drive you around heh?
You did ask for a spelling lesson! :diablo:
It is currently very calm at work, so I will see what I can do for next week. Plenty of holiday-days I can still take up.
Couldn’t be happier that you can attend, but the meet is on the 30th, mate! 😮 Talk to ya on MSN… 🙂
[expletive deleted]
I have been able to arrange a day of tomorrow, so I WILL attend the AMS meet.
Please get into contact with me about a meeting time. My MSN is petertenthije at yahoo dot com. I will get online starting roughly 18:00 or 19:00 UK time.
LBArules: if you still got my phone number, feel free to give me a ring. Please do not call today between 16:00 and 17:00 UK time as I will be in the car. I do not believe I can receive text messages from abroad.
See you all tomorrrow!

the MSC Lucy, […] can take around 8,800TEU, although as you know they never really take that amount.
I’ll remind the carrier of that when they refuse my containers again. 😀
As you can see only the three lowest containers are secured to the deck with rods, everything above it is only attached to the container below and next to it. Not really safe. You can imagine what the result is when they stack them 8 high on the deck in bad weather… They run away easily 😀
Well that is nice… I think I will NOT be saying that to my manager. He has enough stress as it is. 😀 😀
The muscle to move this thing:
Very nice!
Another annoying point is that you hardly have a clue of what’s onboard. Some guys succeed in putting a bulldozer or steel coils in containers without lashing it correctly. It’s inside the container, so lashing isn’t really your concern. Of course when the ship gets into bad weather these goods start moving and often just bang through the container side resulting in dangerous situations.
I would like to point out I am innocent here. Only pallets and cartons in my containers. My collegue on the other hand…. He packs complete car production lines into containers. Only leaving the personnel behind. 😀 😉
This is just scary. Look at the size of the tsunami! Imagine being in one of those cars seeing the waves tower over you. Terrifying sight.
That photo has been proven as doctored on a few sites. There are a lot of impressive Tsunami shots, this ain’t one of them!

No, I found the information on http://www.avianet.nl.
Here is a translation of said article. I have added a few notes and remarks:
Aviodrome renews collection policy.
Old collection pieces make way for new.
The Aviodrome has reconsidered its collcetion policy. In the futuer the Aviodrome wants to aim at Dutch aviation. Civil aviation will get more aim.Ten themes.
The Aviodrome will devote both the inside and outside exposition, as well as its collection policy, to ten themes. All those themes will have played an important role in Dutch society and aviation. Those themes include “fixed ground underneath the wings” (NOTE: I don’t get the name either). A collection from 1919-1934 during which planes like the uiver laid the foundation for a worldwide Dutch aviation network.
Another theme is the post-war “farewell Netherlands”, in which the famous four engined Constellation made an important contribution to the emigration of tens of thousands of Dutch to countries like Australia, New Zeeland and Canada.
Expansion.
Within those ten themes the aviation themepark will in the future be expanded. Later this year the pilots mess will open to give te public an impression of pilotl ive in the 40s.In the coming years a large wooden hangar will be erected specially for the earliest of aviation. An even larger operations hangar will be build for the flying fleet including the F.27, DC-2, Constellation as well as the Fokker S.11s from the Fokker Four and the Catalina.
An ATC tower (NOTE: yet another one?) will be build for the public with information about ATC. This will be a great hangout for plane spotters.
Collection.
The collection will be expanded as well. For as far as complete planes are concerned, all over the world the Aviodrome is looking for a F.28 or a F.100 (NOTE: that would be about time! Excellent idea.), two types that where made in the Netherlands. The Aviodrome is also looking for a Douglas DC-8, the first jetplane in the KLM fleet.Finance.
Because the Aviodrome obviously does not have unlimited (financial) resources, this will mean that some planes will leave the collection. The Spitfire for instance will be sold since there are another 3 of those in NL as well as numerous replicas. With it the Aviodrome meets the demand from national politics to avoid doubles in the cultural “national collection” (NOTE two DC-3s (+ 2x DDA), two DC-2s, two Fokker Spiders, loads S-11s etc). The Spitfire will make way for a Fokker C.5, the only Dutch military plane to survive WW2. Till now this plane was hidden in the depot. The Otto Lilienthal glider, from 1896, no longer fits in the collcetion either and has already been removed from the exposition.Information
Everyone that wants to see the changes in the Aviodrome is daily welcome from 10:00 to 17:00, with the exception of mondays (except school holidays). Till the end of august the Aviodrome will be open till 18:00. All information about the museum can be found at http://www.aviodrome.nl. Information can also be had by mailing to info@aviodrome.nl or by calling +31 (0) 900-AVIODROME / +31 (0) 900-2846376 (25 ct. p. min in NL).http://www.avianet.nl/redactioneel/2006/2006-08/red2509.htm

Good to hear that there will be more hangars to place the planes in. The future addition of the F.28/F.100 is about time too as it is one of the most important Dutch types ever.
Interested here. I work at a logistics company shuffling containers from europe to the US and Asia. But I do not work at a shipping company, just a company that buys containerspace from the shipper. So I do not have a lot of “inside information” or something.
