Ah! The Douglas DC-5 actually went into production (all of a dozen were built), so I’d imagine it’s too real to be an “unreal propliner”.
Are we supposed to call it the Boeing DC-5 these days?
None survive, so at best you can call it a pepsi can. Although after all this time I would doubt even that.
The DC-5 looked a bit like a cross between a F27 and a DC-3. The F27 layout with DC-3 cockpit and wing. Not sure why the DC-5 was ever build, it was not much larger then the DC-3. The only advantage it had over the DC-3 was a level floor, whereas the DC-3s floor slopes upward when on the ground.
Only 4 planes where delivered to airlines, 2 for KLM’s carribean branch and 2 for KLM’s indonesian branch. The others where all drafted by the USAAF.
As for unreal propliners, how about the Fokker F.24. A lookalike of the DC-5 this would have been the first all metal Fokker. But world war 2 stopped the project. After the war the project was picked up again and rehashed, ending up with the F.27.
Other unreal propliner include the dornier 428, a stretched ‘328.
or £500 worth of notes
Make that 500 pounds in pennies and you got yourself a bet. 😉
Anyone that asks advice from a webforum is on a guaranteed path to failure.
And this surprises you because…?
If anything I am surprised they did not launch this program earlier. After all, it is a nearly zero cost program that will attract additional customers. Put in a few additional gastanks, add gold plumbing and you are done.
That bird is safe. A good distance away from the jet. The same can not be said about this minced bird though!
So they restarted it? This picture had been going round the web already since before the sonic cruiser and god knows how many proposed 747 derivatives.
ISO 100 is a cracking setting for quality but sometimes cant produce a fast enough shutter speed for my liking
You tried panning shots? I find that a well executed photo at 1/30th is a whole lot more interesting and challenging that a well executed photo at 1/300th.
I am a great fan of panning shots, with my new lense (Sigme 70-200 2.8 EX HSM) it requires a bit more practise for really good results but with my old lense (Sigma 70-300 4.5-5.6 APO) I routinely hit 1/60th.
When are you going to AMS?
Nice photos.
Why did you get such a high aperture rating? F11-16 is rather high for a sunny day. F6-8 should have done nicely, with ISO 100 or 200.
Very nice photos! Is the Hewa Bora tristar still a regular at BRU? If so, what day(s)?
Also, are you form the Dutch or the French part of Belgium?
The only airlines I flew that are no more are Buzz and VBird. Of the two I would prefer to see VBird return.
For airlines I never flew, Pan Am, TWA, SABENA.
Reason for SABENA is really only for the great livery and the numerous funny acronyms: 😀
Swissair A Bien Encaisser Notre Argent
Such A Bloody Experience, Never Again!
etc
DUS is something that may be an idea during the world cup matches. If I am not mistaken there should be a few flights by Aeromexico (767+777). That alone is sufficient reason for me to go there.
A.net has a ZRH tour being organized for July 29th. I intend to be there as well so that means the last 3 weeks of July are not possible for me. The first two weekends of July I should be able to come by and show you around AMS.
Also, rotation shots can be had from the polderbaan just as well as at ZRH. Not sure if it is as close by, but it is not much further.
As for AMS I am always ready for a weekend trip, except for june 17-18 (mayor Dutch airshow at Leeuwarden), July 15-16 (Fairford) and July 22-23 (Farnborough).
ZRH should be good too, and finally something different then KLM metal.
On this forum I know Seahawk to have one.
I thought that was obvious.
That’s why I pointed it out. (this could go on very long, just pointing out another thing that is obvious)
Tenthije – well done – that is what I was refering to. I had not noticed until a dutch spotter pointed it out as it taxied past.
It’s always the Dutch that need to point out the obvious. :diablo:
