As I’ve said on other forums, the futures of too many airlines are at stake to even consider wide spread cancellations.
Airlines from Mexico to Japan are betting on this one light weight profit driving machine to turn their fortunes around. A cancellation would be a death sentence for any medium sized airline with old 767s or A330s in the fleet.
Unless Boeing and the FAA decide an overhaul of the electronic systems is in order, I’d be surprised if I saw any cancellations. The problem will most likely be fixed in a couple of months…
There is also no direct competitor to the 787. The A350 competes with the 777, and besides even if an airline did cancel 787 orders in favour of the A350 – with current backlogs they can expect delivery some time in 2019/2020 😀

Was just made aware of this great trip report on the first 77W flight to GRU.
Champaign served by the CEO and senior vice president on-board the flight! 😀
I also believe the upgrade he got was Tom Horton’s doing.
For those who don’t have time to read the whole review (although I advise you do if you have the time, it’s very detailed and well written), I’ll post part of the summary here.
“American is back.
The new Business Class seats are the most comfortable I have flown on. I managed to sleep very comfortably and the IFE is up the standards of a 5-star carrier. The food service, however, still needs improvement, as my dishes unfortunately weren’t what I was expecting. This, however, is one easy detail to fix and I’m sure Mr. Vahidi and his team will put some dedication and effort into making it better.
The new First Class, on the other hand, was a box full of perfection. The seat, the IFE, the service and the meals. All flawless. There’s rare chances for improvement there. Congratulations!
I would like to congratulate Mr. Tom Horton, Mr. Virasb Vahidi, and all American’s executives for working so hard in developing and bringing to life such an incredible product. My heart goes out to them for the effort and dedication and hope that the remaining 20 B777-300(ER) come out as beautiful as N717AN.”
…I need to see if there are any business meets in Dallas this year so I can try this great product out for myself :diablo:
I have read rumours that BA will be forming a partnership with CX on the kangaroo route, to replace the one QF ditched. So maybe this is the rationale behind BA’s decision to drop the code-share, they have a plan B?
What I find really interesting about the whole QF+EK thing is the AUS-DXB leg. It’s well documented and well known DXB-EUR works a charm, but Emirates have always struggled to make the Australian leg work. Whether the tie-up with QF will entice more passengers remains to be seen, but I think both airlines are taking quite a large gamble. So there is a chance that if they can’t make AUS-DXB profitable, QF could drop it and the onward leg to Europe.
Personally I think Qantas should have started off by sending just one of the A380s to DXB and the other to ply the classic SIN route and reviewed how well DXB was doing in 6 months time before committing the second.
There are some interesting new disposal proposals coming from the States that would be cheap to implement.
One idea is to put the low-level waste in a concrete container and bury it out to sea. At least there aren’t any residents to complain out there! 😀

The three oldest are all non-ERs and I believe will be the first to be replaced by the 787.
How about the old Virgin Blue and Sterling Airlines liveries? Then there’s the current Royal Mail 737 aircraft.
I expect Boeing sought exclusivity from GE and RR? Plus I believe there are several Boeing patents regarding the cowling?
All BA’s 777s are fitted with AVOD, and have been for some time?
Sorry EGTC, I stand corrected. What a hideous livery, I could have done better on MS paint. Maybe the rebranding budget reflects the state of Spain’s economy? :p
It’ll never happen. Return tickets will be anything north of £25,000; that’s a good £20,000 more than your standard return business class ticket to SYD – so unless this traveller’s time is worth £500 an hour it’ll never take off. No pun intended.

Really? I thought F-WWYG was just in a plain all white livery, there’s nothing on the engines?
