One thing I failed to mention in my initial post. Japan is currently evaluating whether to use warning shots against any further Chinese aircraft flying over their air-space. In response the Chinese have said that they would use these shots as indictment to war.
So things are definitely on-edge.
Japan is outnumbered, but the Japanese people want revenge ever since Toyota and Panasonic plants in China were looted and set on fire by Chinese nationalists last year, as well as bricks and eggs being thrown at the Japanese ambassador’s car in Beijing. They’re also not just about to surrender the islands the government just paid billions for from a private owner. Likewise the Chinese want what they believe to be their islands back.
It is in America’s national interest that Japan successfully defends the islands if there is a war. As China also has disputes with other Indonesian and Philippine islands. If China were to conquer the Japanese islands then there is a potential for them to get trigger happy and invade Indonesia and the Philippines as well. Before you know it China will have a stranglehold on the whole pacific region – not a pleasant thought for the USA.
Here in Britain I’m sure we all appreciate the situation Japan is in, having experienced similar territorial disputes with Argentina. Personally I hope Japan can keep them.

As I understand it, you’re not allowed to wear motorcycle helmets when walking into banking institutions so your face can be picked up on CCTV (should you decide to rob the place).
What’s the difference between wearing a blacked out visor helmet and a Burkha with regard to CCTV facial pick-up?

I personally wouldn’t be surprised if 30-40% of apple’s share price was written off in a two-day period, such is the extent of their bullish price tag.
Maybe I was being a little pessimistic, but today’s market is being pretty ruthless…

Well, for starters it’s far easier to find unoccupied land to shale in the US, Charlie. Here in the UK you never seem to be more than a couple of miles from a settlement.
Although I agree windmills are not the answer. MW for MW, wind turbines are tens of times more expensive to produce than nuclear power stations. And they blight the landscape.

It always surprises, me the high ratio of narrowbodies to widebodies. You would think with the slot constraints at LHR (and landing fees), you would see a lot more widebodies.
There has been talk from BA in the past of upgrading core routes like Frankfurt, Madrid and Rome to the 777. Nothing has come of that yet though, I believe they will be flown by the smaller 787.
Well he’s hardly going to say anything different.
I actually agree with him, it won’t be any more monopolising than BA+BMI or LH+OS, so I don’t really see how the EU can say no?
Besides, I understand Aer Lingus is a failing carrier. So given the choice between total collapse in the next 5 years or a take-over, I know which one I’d choose.
Not wanting to generalise, although I know I am with the comment, it seems to be the Muslims from the Pakistan region that cause the majority of the problems in the UK.
Bar the Libyan problems from the ’80s, North Africans and those from the Arabian peninsula don’t seem to cause too many issues and I’ve found them to be very accustomed and respectful to British culture. Or at least more so than those from Pakistan and the surrounding territories.

A lot of pro-Europeans say that being outside of the EU, Britain will no longer attract large MNCs… But has anyone considered it may do the opposite?
What about a large Chinese or American company that wants a European HQ without all the EU paraphernalia? Britain would be the perfect location, this is what the Swiss have capitalised on over the years. You just have to look at how many American companies have European offices in Switzerland.

according to reports, this `gang` was two men, both were arrested
I think the gang comprises of slightly more than two, but you are right in saying this is an isolated group in the Islamic community.
Without wanting to sound like a racist, if these men don’t like the rules in the country they know where they can go! :p
The truly sickening thing is, with a criminal record under their belts they’re never going to get a job in this economic climate so they will inevitably be kept warm at the expense of the law-abiding UK tax payer.
