And here are the Luscombes

I noticed those the other day too…
What’s the biplane that appears just before them?
Also, on a similar topic, there’s a B17 in the Kings of Leon “Use Somebody” video…
Does anyone know where Percival was physicly located at Luton and when did the Luton site shut down ?
There are some old pictures of Luton at:
http://www.pprune.org/aviation-history-nostalgia/310000-history-luton-airport.html
showing Percival. It might be possible to work out the location in relation to the current airport buildings from that.
Twinwoods farm – Famous for where Glen Miller last took off from. Not sure whats left.
The Twinwoods control tower was recently restored and various other buildings house museum exhibits. Some photos from an event back in October here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=62698&id=672292802&l=40e1e6051e

Eh? It was last updated 10/03/09. They probably haven’t had anything to add since then. If you want to see them all on one page try Flightline:

And according to the Yahoo report, the Tucano is a jet now. Typical accuracy I’ve come to expect from aviation news articles!

What about Cats UK’s amazing “Luton Airport”? What a song!
And if we’re counting instrumentals as songs, “Pacific 707” by 808 State.

According to http://www.84squadron.co.uk/html/body_wapiti.html
“The aircraft in No 84 Squadron were painted overall silver with Nivo (dark green) upper decking to the fuselage. The rudder stripe markings had the blue flash forwards until 1930 then the red stripe until 1934, when stripes were deleted. A scorpion insignia was painted on the nose, together with a very small ‘84’. Later this was replaced by a letter and number combination and the Flight was indicated by various devices on the fin and under the wings. ‘A’ Flight exhibited an ace playing card, ‘B’ Flight a swastika insignia and ‘C’ Flight a triangular insignia.”
Presumably this was prior to the Nazis hijacking the swastika.
