A pair of Stearman? Stearmans? Stearmen? over Ampthill just now, heading in a Duxfordish direction, so I’m guessing it was the Breitling Wingwalkers. Couldn’t tell what colour they were due to my terrible eyesight.

BBMF in the distance to the north of Luton at about 16:15. Lanc at low level with top cover from Spitfire even further in the distance and Hurricane quite close to me. Presumably transiting from RIAT to Legends.

    From: http://www.airtattoo.com/news/2014/apr/17/f-35-lightning-strikes-the-air-tattoo-this-summer

“It is our understanding that three examples of the F-35B, the short take-off/vertical landing version of the Lightning II optimized for operation from austere bases and smaller ships, will be based at RAF Fairford: two from the US Marine Corps and one destined for the UK. The flying displays on all three days of the airshow will see participation by one aircraft.”

Was passing the bottom of Dunstable Downs a few minutes ago, watching the glider/tug activity when what looked like an E-3 Sentry appeared and looked like it was on approach for Luton. Anyone got any info or did I just imagine it? Thanks.

Edit: Just did a Twitter search and it revealed that ZH102 carried out a practice approach. Thank Crunchie for that, I thought I was going mad.

Fast jet heard over Bedford at around 19:45 this evening. Anyone know what it was?

Edit: Looking on another forum, it appears to have been Tornado ZA405.

Didn’t see it, but heard a Chinook in the Ampthill vicinty yesterday around 16:00, and saw a Pitts-esque looking biplane over north Luton at 17:50.
