Love it, then my car broke down to boot, just spent the last 3hrs in a recovery vehicle on the M5

That will teach you to go off without a flight engineer 😀

At risk of incurring the wrath of the thread creep police.
What are the largest lens constructed for conventional cameras I.E not for use in U2 or Canberra PR9 or satellites.
I’ve heard that Nikon made a 3000mm prototype available to the army in Northern Ireland for trials and that Carl Zeiss made a 5000mm mirror for the East German border guards.
I’ve got an old Soligor 800mm f8 on pentax screw thread and an MTO 1000mm mirror with an adaptor to fit my Canon A-1.

In theory yes, but you may well require a bucket of instant sunshine to provide sufficient light to use that ensemble. I wouldn’t be too hopefull of retaining any autofocus feature either.
I stand to be corrected if someone knows otherwise.

Politics apart militarily I don’t doubt that the Israelis have the skill and fire power to carry out the raid into Iran and destroy that nuclear facility. I’m not at all sure they would advertise their intentions in such an obvious way. I think it is a smokescreen for an attack closer to base (Syria ?). The Israelis are cunning and shrewd ( and perhaps a little stealthy) having visited Iraq, Uganda and Syria to protect their interests in the past. Why advertise their intentions in this manner. The Iranians can do the maths they know the range of an F-16I ITIRC about 1500 nm with conformal tankage max. Unless the IDF/AF has a stunning trick up its sleeve they are going to require tanking some where along the way and that mitigates against surprise.
Perhaps the stunning trick is a Lavi / Lampyridae hybrid project based on the missing Lavi number 3. Didn’t a significant number of MBB technicians from the very top drawer join IAI some years ago. Lavi 1 is in a museum 2,4 & 5 were scrapped. 1 & 2 were stripped to complete number 3 as a technology demonstrator, where is it now? Not too sure on just how the timelines fit for this but it is a thought.
    Just my thoughts.
Your comments and observations much appreciated.

    Newforest………

Why should his contribution be deleted by the Mod? That smacks of censorship. You (and and I) are entitled to express our opinions, so is he.

    Planemike

I didn’t ask for deletion, I challenged his implied allegation of alcohol use prior to flight. His contribution adds nothing of value to the thread, perhaps a spell on the naughty chair under moderation is more appropriate than outright deletion. It is perhaps worthy of note that he has chosen not to reply to the very mild criticism so far, nor clarified his comments at all.

I too was there that day & agree with the description of all previous posts…………………………………………………
There are 2 other things I remember with great clarity.

Firstly, the Invader was parked near the entrance to the Air Fair, nose into the crowd. When we walked past it the person who I believe was the pilot was sitting in the nosecone drinking from a can………………………………………….

    Jeremy

Coke or Pepsi ? Unless you are certain it was alcohol why raise the inuendo?
I don’t recall any mention of alcohol from the post mortem examinations.
    Please think before you post.

    ………………………………………………………………..
Anyone know if there are any Fieldmasters still in service?? Last I heard some years ago was that a couple were in use in Turkey?

Done a bit of digging on Fieldmasters and found out that
    1 G-BNEG D 6001 NAC-6 FIELDMASTER
    2 G-NACL D 6001 NAC-6 FIELDMASTER
    3 G-NACM D 6002 NAC-6 FIELDMASTER
    4 G-NACN D 6003 NAC-6 FIELDMASTER
    5 G-NACO D 6004 NAC-6 FIELDMASTER
    6 G-NACP D 6005 NAC-6 FIELDMASTER
    7 G-NRDC D 004 NDN-6 FIELDMASTER

    Of these c/n 6002 G-NACM and G-NACN c/n 6003 were exported to Turkey.
The others are temporarily WFU except G-NRDC which was canceled by the
    CAA.
Who is or was EPA Aircraft Company Ltd. of London SW13 they were the
last owners of ‘CL ‘CO & CP?
Total times to 31/12/97 were ‘CL 814 ‘CM 1403 ‘CN 1280 ‘CO 279 ‘CP 543
So they were out and about does anyone have any photos of them?
I thought the water bomber version was called Firemaster, but it was a long time ago.
Your time and trouble, comments and observations much appreciated.

Yes TT, it is owned by Bruno Van Wayenberghe which flew as number 4 with the blades in 2006. He is the owner of Extraviation Ltd which sells Extra acrobatic planes at EBKT here in Belgium. He told me last year that he thought about selling G-BRLV but I don’t think he has put it up for sale at this point. I think G-BRLV is still here in Belgium. Bruno also owns and flies a Stampe SV4b OO-ESV at EBKT.

    Greets,

    Stiggy

It would appear he has put some of his classic flock up for sale, Stampe, MS 317, Viimma and Jungmeister but not as yet the aforementioned Harvard.
