Just wanted to add my appreciation of the Crystal Lakes machines – Although I’m probably regarded as a philistine by now by the forum at large 😀

I suppose it’s the same as the argument I have with my missus on a regular basis – She likes things to look right, but I can’t see the point if it makes life impractical (“I know it looks good but you can’t plug it in/see it/open it, etc.”).

Anyhow Mike, keep up the good work – beautiful machines.

I seriously doubt that Mr Red Bull is actually making money from his sponsorship of old planes – I still think he’s doing it out of enthusiasm. And if that’s how he want’s to spend his money, then more power to him. The whole sponsorship thing is probably to placate his accountants anyway.

So what large twin engined biplanes are airworthy in the UK?

Twin Pin was firmly in the hanger, along with the Rapides (the only other candidate that I can think of quickly). The Dak was out and about on Saturday, but that would be be very tricky to mistake for a biplane!

I think we’re missing the point here – the Red Bull bloke might just be an aircraft enthusiast just like us (but with considerably more money).

So if you were utterly minted, wouldn’t you be shovelling cash in the direction of old aeroplanes? And what if there’s a tax break for sponsorship that enables a lot more of your dosh to go in the direction that you prefer (rather than to communes for one legged lesbian socialist freedom fighters). Oh, and you’ve also got a world recognised brand that does look quite neat when painted on noisy, fast machines.

No brainer in my opinion – Red Bull Vulcan anyone?

    Sooooo…….

    I’ve been thinking.

What if Adolf had left the USSR alone and had another go at dear old Blighty in 1941? Still no overt US support and the full might of the Third Reich facing us.

Who would have won the Second Battle of Britain?

    Over to you…

We could always work out a plan for a meet on that funny airfield on the northern fringe of Warwickshire, the one with all of the Dakotas

Well PY could certainly do with the attentions of experienced aeroplane cleaners 🙂 Actually if it’s “do-able” there are worse Hangers to spend a couple of hours in..

I wonder if the grass at Old Warden is long enough to allow ‘public transport’ flying with the Twin Pin, it is officially too short for the Rapides

I did ask about the Dak and OW but apparently it would get in but not out, which isn’t ideal. Reckon they’d let us borrow the Twin Pin for an evening? What a nice thought!

One of the advantages of Sky Digital (or Council House Telly – CHTV as I’ve been told off by my oh so more intelligent and attractive better half for calling it) is that all of the BBC regions are available, even in the Godless Midlands.

I shall attempt to watch it, although a Bump nearer the time might be useful 🙂

Ah yes, but if there’s beer involved I don’t appear to have a chance of standing

    And there’s a drawback to this? 🙂

I will attend a Forum meet – too many demands on my time at present to be precise though!

If anything happens reasonably local, and there’s beer involved I stand a chance of appearing.. And I will get to OW this year at least once. I figure that an OW evening display is the best way to get Mrs JC to look upon the hobby as more than a “anorak” obsession! I have considered brain washing, but I’d best not go there..

So what mischief has the well known forum member and warbird pilot done to himself then?

Was it anything to do with the men’s downhill formation morris dancing event held recently in Aspen?

Any contact info for Thames (or whoever is responsible for releasing stuff like this) so that we can all ask for this to be re released.
