Many years ago a Mil Mi-6 was at RTM on a sales tour. We assisted in transporting people to and from the helicopter and assisted the crew with steps for engine checks etc. At the end of my shift I went home. Next day I was told that my collegues were offered to come along on a 20 minute flight with some ‘interested buyers’ 15 minutes after I went home, as a thank you for the services provided… 😡 😡 😡 When I think of it, the thought still hurts! Oh man….

A suggestion: why not put the QTM file on Video Google or Youtube? Then it is free for everyone to watch.

Lord of the Rings, the two towers. Magic, pure magic. I just missed the Tom Bombadil part.

Congratulations!
This is really good news. For Patrick -the author, for the Carvair -as it is finally getting the book it deserves, and for me -the prospective buyer who has been waiting for sooo long for a decent book about Carvairs.
And this forum deserves a pat on the shoulder for generating some additional interest in this ugly / beautiful aircraft.

Found another website about underwater warbirds:
http://www.divetheworld.com/Diving/warbirds/index.htm
It reports about an upcoming attempt to recover a Beaufighter from Norwegian waters. Anyone knows more about that?
And a tastefully made video about a dive to a sunken Sunderland (T9044) at Pembroke dock:

The ‘cannon’ fitted to the B-25 was a 75mm! 😮
Many years ago I saw some footage of one of those cannons being fired during a low level flight. It was filmed from behind the cockpit crew of a Mitchell. When the cannon was fired you saw the crew thumping forward as a result from the recoil, like they were in a car that goes over a speed bump. There was a smoke trail visible. The impact of the projectile on the water caused an impressive big fountain.
Would like to see that footage again.

Ah no, I haven’t seen the extended version, need to get my hands on that… And a DVD with ‘The best of John Belushi’, as my videotape is now very old. The scenes from ‘Saturday Night Live’ still crack me up, too.
