Most people who produce the replica’s are responsible to say so. The difficulties are when they change hands several times through many owners to the point no one knows where they have originated from and they are unwittingly sold as an original.
There seems to be an increase in replica items over the years B29, DC3, B26, Lancasters, Spitfire spade grips to name but a few. Good copies due to the advancement of technology, many on eBay.
And this was the BZ308 shot I was looking for https://www.flickr.com/photos/fondazioneisec/2675957879/in/dateposted/
Wow, that seems a bit of a steep climb, thank goodness for the long robes! Interesting aircraft though, never heard of this type before.
Also don’t forget the Caravelle! The glass noses of the Russian aircraft certainly added character and looked the business.
If the buyer doesn’t pay then the seller can set up a dispute with eBay which takes a number of weeks to resolve. In the meantime ebay would automatically deduct the sellers fees. Once the dispute is resolved for Example it is established that the seller didn’t receive his or her payment then eBay would reimburse those fees. However it takes a number of weeks and is hassle, who would want that amount of money deducted from their account before it is resolved.
Publicity stunt or not, if someone purchased the canopy as a laugh and decided not to go ahead, the seller would initially be billed £6,000 eBay fees. Enough to give you a sleepless night or two for a few weeks, dangerous ground when you do things for show or publicity.
I understand there is an airfield nearby but the event is not actually on the airfield
Thanks for clarification about the airfield, not many of these aerojumble events about so may pop up there and support this one.
Thanks for the link, interesting to see that they are looking in the future to be the UK’s biggest annual aerojumble / militaria event. I wish them well, there’s certainly been a demise over the years on aerojumbles. Holding it on an active airfield is appealing.
When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave our today.
Sad reflection on the idiots that we have in today’s society. They haven’t got a clue how lucky they are. They wouldn’t have been able to do this under a facist dictatorship if the war had been lost.
Sounds interesting ….. I’ll wait for more news
I read it wrong, didn’t realise it was just the column although having read it again it does point it out in the listing.
Avro Lancaster yoke and column on eBay item number 192128186777
Not sure if the advertising of a commercial site is allowed on here, Mods ? I know if an individual puts items for sale it gets removed from the forum. Most people Know of the site and its over the top prices, but if money is no object ……. The Hurricane seat adjuster is not a Hurricane seat adjuster, the Hurricane seat is probably from a early Meteor, it is the same as a Hurricane though. The price of the seat is crazy I have seen them for £500 – £1000, that’s about the going rate.
I think this query has been raised before and the answer was that Spitfirespares regularly pay for advertisement space in Flypast magazine, therefore they are allowed to be referred too on this forum. Personally I don’t see a problem with that if they are financially supporting the magazine. No doubt the financial contributions of all advertisers help keep the magazine in business which in turn helps support the existence of this forum.
I have no connection with this company(SS) but just passing on what has been previously raised on this forum previously a couple of years back.
