Its like waiting for Milt to buy a round at a Brunty Open Day 😀 😀 😀
Have a great day Ben, from us all at the BBS.
could also help with communication between similar projects. sharing of parts, manuals, knowledge etc.
We already do that as you well know Roy, and not just for Bucc’s, but cross fertilization can only be a good thing for the whole preservation movement, the amount of times I have heard in the past “we don’t know, we’ve never had dealings with them before” is astonishing 😮
Sounds like a great idea, our motley crew would be more than happy to contribute.
To coin a phase from one of your previous posts from a different thread: “They’ don’t really want it off site. The new MD is very keen to see historic aviation on site”, umm.
£6.80 per ton, a stripped down Bucc weighs in at a gnats todger over 10 tons, when I went to school 10 x 6.80 equates to £68.00.
I want the Bucc there even less than those in command at the Airport and it is not as though we are not trying to move it, it will be a jubliant day when she arrives at her new home.
Get the message boys, they dont want you there!
Dont get me wrong I like Buccs indeed, I spent holidays at Lossiemounth lying under the main runway. Hope you find a caring home for it where you are welcome.
We get the message alright, but with our hands tied by the authorities as to when we can move it, their is not a lot we can do, I have suggested that we fold the wings and move it onto a redundant area (not the poxy grass again!!!), but this was met by “their is no redundant area”.
The aircraft does have a home to go to and a 12 strong volunteer force ready to get to work on its restoration, as a well known catch phase from a tv advert says “The Futures Bright, The Futures PINK!!!”
Sounds like you need some friends with a low loader !
We have friends with a low loader but keep hitting the brick wall when it comes to the local Police for the over sized transport order & escort.
So far, we have had 4 failed move attempts, one with less than twenty four hours to go, due to the various reason which have never been explained, these 4 attempts have cost money and with the proposed daily charges of £143, it would not be long before we are forced to fold the Society through a lack of funds. 😡 😡 😡
Can’t see the Javelin or the Meteor going anywhere in a hurry then! Nor the rest of the collection, quietly rotting away in the far corner of the airfield. 🙁
You’re lucky you moved the Bucc when you did, another wet spell and it would have been up to the fuselage in mud. 😉
‘They’ don’t really want it off site.
The official line that was given to the Jet Age was that everything apart from the Jav and complete Meteor were to be removed from the site by the end of September, that includes the Bucc.
As for being lucky with moving her when we did, she was already in the mud up to her belly and I can assure you that it was a job full of bad language coupled with brute strength and ignorance 😀 😀 .
Great to have the Javelin on the gate and one of the Meteors more visible now. Pity the Bucc is leaving, maybe the delays at the gate are a delaying tactic?!?!?! 😎
The Javelin and Meteor will eventually move once the Jet Age Museum have 1) Found a new home and 2) have the necessary funds to move them.
As for the Bucc, they want it off site anyway.
old habits never die… they always get so pissed if you call them Staverton – serves then right for changing the name to be more sterile.
Indeed, they don’t take too kindly to being called Staverton, they also don’t like it when Buccsociety turns up and has to wait over an hour and a half to get to his aeroplane and he gets rather 😡 😡 😡 with them!!!!
Nice pics though.
As mentioned on the phone, congrats to you all for getting the engine in and running in double quick time.
I see Mr Clements has already updated our site (Buccaneer Society) with this info.
I have just been informed that Lightning F.6 XP693 was test flown today in South Africa by Keith Hartley!
Well done to all involved with the project in South Africa, and a special mention to all the old Lightning Flying Club guys down at Exeter who kept her in tip top shape during the 1990s.
I wondered who was going to post this up, at least JR cannot waggle the finger at me 😀
Are all those Bae146’s Delta jets to?
No Ollie, they are either in storage or undergoing maintenance by Chevron Technical Services.
Not nit picking or anything but I was told off for calling them 146’s!!!, they are RJ’s
I think thats from when Miss Demeanour damaged herself during a landing in her 1st season.
Indeed it was, that tailcone has been kicking around for sometime along with the rear fuselage and an overstressed wing from G-PSST.
I feel for you Roy, you’ve done an excellent job on what was once a total basket case, your talent will not go unnoticed.
