Having had a lengthy conversation with the Canberra’s previous owner Bruce, yesterday, I can confirm David’s message above. All of the aircraft were saved from certain destruction.
I also noted from my visit that their are two Hunters still on site, a T-bird and a single seat, which is in the process of being dismantled.
These are figures I have for the Buccaneer.
Primer: One, double-track coat, 0.75 to 1.0ozs/sq yd.
Polyurethane Finish: Two, single-track coats at 18 to 25deg C, 1.5 to 2.0oz/sq yd.
Indentification Colours: Should be sprayed on top of finish to give a film weight of 1.0 to 1.5oz/sq yd.
Hope this is of some help.
This cockpit section had already been sold, questions will be asked!!!!
I’ve got a mint re-con Palouse if you’re after one to start the Bucc with.
Failing that – have you got a starting handle spare?
Already have a serviceable Palouste and a spare, these one’s I am selling are excess to requirement.
Any updates yet??
Not yet Phil, we are still on the case though.
HFL, I have contacted a known source and should an answer back from them in the near future.
Here is XL500 on the beautiful morning she was delivered to HFL, this was taken at around 05:30/06:00.

Which VC10 section would that be then?
Couldn’t tell you, all I know is its Grey, Big and needs restoring.

I know for an absolute fact the other 2 are not being blown up and in fact i was climbing all over them last night 🙂
I was going to say, I hope not, I’m trying to sort out a deal for one of them, with a VC-10 section travelling in the opposite direction.
Dont think there is a runway at Greenham Common any more. The Grace Spitfire was last heard of at a former USAF base in East Anglia.
Definately no Hard runway left at Greenham Common, it was dug up 10 + years ago, most of the hardcore was used to help build the A34/Newbury bypass.
Spitfire (Blue colours, possibly RR’s), in formation with another aircraft, which I could not ID, south of Hampstead Marshall, West Berkshire.
Hello, do you have any photographs of Buccaneers taken at RAF Driffield or being towed there from Brough (this circa 1968 while HOSM was having its runway resurfaced)?
Best Wishes
Phil Rhodes
I will have a look Phil, I am pretty sure we have some.
I think, its about 10 years to late to be talking about saving her.
Unfortunately Andy, I don’t go along with that, the nose will be worth saving by someone for a long term project, case study, Flower Scrapyard, Chippenham, mid to late 90’s, one very manky and stripped Sea Hawk, saved, restored by Roy Coates, now a beauty, take a look here: http://www.wv838.com/
Just seen a Spitfire over Greenham Common, heading North East, could not make out mark or serial as it was too far away.
Great news Mark, also good to see the pylon mounted airstarter working 😎
XN981 is now meant to be in the Errol area (Tayside) of Scotland minus her wings.
Phil, XN981 is confirmed as being at Errol, one of our chaps has been in contact with the owner, and will be taking some photos in the near future.
