Well, Tawian is limited with what it can purchase. 🙁

It’s not about the purchasing power! What we’re
talking about is the technology involved and the technology
involved “IS PURELY and SHEERLY POLITICS” :p hence the term “CK”
(someone’s initial) after the designation “F” (fighter).

I mean if the mainlanders were to have followed that pathetic route,
they’d be calling the J-10 after Mao and it be known as the “Fighter-Mao
    Tse-Tung-1
” (or F-MTT-1) instead of whatever it’s now known as.

And the brains behind the IDF? Likely those of Pratt and
Whitney, General Dynamic, Grumman, Lockheed, etc., etc., but the credit goes
to the Islanders instead because of the politics behind it.

“There’s no glory in bragging about a handout especially if it’s used
for politicization purposes and if it’s used as a put down of those of their own kind
and a handout and a put down is exactly what the IDF is all about.”

Scooter I agree, it would be nice, but I still kinda think even with its current capabilities it’s nothing to joke about.

    Haley,
Would you mind leaving this thread and not posting on it anymore? I’m asking as nicely as I know how, but everytime you post it never leads anywhere productive, and I’ve really enjoyed this thread so far and I want to keep enjoying it. If you would please not post on this thread again I’d really appreciate it. I don’t mean to be rude, and I’m trying to as nicely. PLEASE…don’t post on this particular thread again. I realize I can’t stop you from posting on it, so I’m asking you politely.

Have you ever heard of the saying: You’ve asked for it? Just a thought.

Its ironic how a certain country which has been giving away missile tech and more for years while being an NPT signatory can actually have the right to lecture others.

    just my two cents

    :p :p :p

Finally, you guys think you can now start to
throw your weight around isn’t it :p ? Or thinks that this is
an alliance of a life time for you guys isn’t it?

Well… don’t jump for joy just yet because I don’t think your
neighbour to the north is just going to sit there and do nothing. If logic would
have it, I’m sure they match you guys pound for pound inch for inch and that means
an even more dangerous subcontinent than it was – EVER!

And, if you must know, this specific country that you’ve mentioned in
the above is not concerned a bit about this alliance. And honestly speaking, I think
they are more concerned about the chance probability that hard heads in your part of Asia
will go haywired and start a full scale and all out conflict in the region.

I mean have you guys ever considered that equation, and what it might
mean to the world? That country’s opposition, was not in consideration of her own welfare – guaranteed!
“Their reason was for the cause peace in a very volitile region of the globe.”

They definitely weren’t preaching anyone as you would like to put it.

    Come on Guys!!

    It dosent make much sense!

War between Russia and U.S = NO winner! ( There wont be anyone left to celebrate the victory! )

But Barb! As the guy says, fallouts from a single nuke explosion amounts
to only a few KGs, thus a few thousand nukes going off simultaneously would mean
no more but a few thousand KGs or so. That’s enough to set off mad cow disease, AIDS, and
ebola but definitely not enough to kill any of us. So! Missiles away boys :p !

With upgraded Radar, Avonics, and Engines. All combined with AIM-9X Sidewinders and AIM-120 AMRAAMS. The IDF would make a excellant point defense fighter. Hey, I can dream can’t I? 😮

Don’t jump for joy just yet because…

I would consider it a half a**ed F-18/F-5 wanna be (or, a better
description would be the F-CK-18) because, in configuration it tries to take after the F-18 while in
punches it’s probably no more than the F-5 Freedom fighter’s range.

I mean be serious! The Americans are not going to let these Islanders
have anything better than an F-5 because of fears/concerns that pilots from the Island may deffect, thus
secrets such as F-14’s, 15’s and 18’s would fall on mainlander hands.

It’s only simple logics. That plane is pure politic.

Uhhh… From what I remember, the original writing was Chinese, this bird has been painted in the times of cultural revolution and the inscriptions should contain something about *long live great Mao Ce Tung and his family*..

    Thanks for your help, anyway..

    Flex

Nah!!! That looks more like something from some
prehistoric civilization which used to flourish in the American
Southwest… in the Death Valley region I think…

On second thought, it might even be inscriptions from
this supposedly lost culture which reappeared all by itself again
after the Tsunami and it’s near the Bangledash vicinity :p .

    :p.

Good news: Israel resumes military exports to China

    Tehnology Transfer? Seriously…

Unless the deal involves the Lavi such that people from the west
won’t have to have such a hard time explaining away the magics of the J-10, then, it’s probably
not something that’ll work equally to the favor of the Chinese.

Reason: The US simply won’t let it happen.

PLA Generals claim 2006 defence budget increase is insufficient

So do I. I mean given the clear act of hostility (encirclement) directed
    against the Chinese; something which even the blind can see which direction headed;
that budget should have equal that of the most wastefull of this world.

I think, that like Chinese everywhere, that Beijing too have had enough
of the hatred, the cold threats, the bigotry and the discrimination. Thus, she
probably knows where her place lies in the greater schemes of things of survival and as
such, handling it in an intelectual, in a sensible, and in a tolerant manner.

That gradual increase in the defense budget is in proportion to the
growth of the Chinese economy. Thus, making a big deal of it as the west does is,
in essence, and in my opinion — making a mountain out of a mollhill…

Why Chinese continually gets oppressed by right wingers

I know many Chinese friends and they have a term
that goes like this: Even a Bhudha made of cold stones and
clay gets irritated and it gets pi**ed off sometimes :p.

I mean who wouldn’t be if they’ve so methodically, so
intententionally, and so intensively been picked on and targetted as enemy
number 1 when all she wants is to be everyone’s friend.

Are you for real? You do understand the level of technology we were working with in the 40’s and 50’s, right? Exactly what mythical piece of technology did we have back then to predict whether or not a nuclear detonation could cause cancer years down the line?

Our loyalty: Where does it lie???

OC, I can definitely understand the patriotism and the allegeance
or the attachement that each of us have towards our country. But, that
shouldn’t make us ignor that which is the truth, which, namely, is the word vendatta.
And the term “Japs” definitely made it more the easier those days.

I mean even the Chinese would’ve done them in for what
they’ve done to China those days — if China had the means and the muscles
to do it back then! But, that doesn’t make it right, does it?

    Technology of those days:

OC, somehow, I just still can’t come to terms with the idea that,
while Oppenheimer & staff all took shelter behind concrete bunkers a feet
or better thick in the NM test site while the US Army was used as speciments
in trenches in the distance that they didn’t find anything wrong.

To add insult to injury: Is technology sufficiently
enough today such that mankind would’ve known better than
to employ depleted uraniums as a tool of warfare???

Just as with the depleted uraniums –
I suspect that the nukes of the 40s and the 50s too
was throughly and fully understood :p ?

“Let me put things in another perspective, OC: If supposing, America would
take the initiative “and the leadership that it is” and agrees to de-nuke itself and the Chinese refuses; I for
one would be the very first to let the Chinese know what I thought of them.”

What I mean to say is this, OC: If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. And, I will
not be afraid to admit that I am wrong if I was wrong. This philosophy applies also to my
country – Canuckland – if she was wrong or if she had made a mistake.

    Hello guys..

I got this model of MiG-17 Fresco, built by a friend of mine 11 years ago. I would like to know what the transcriptions on the plane mean.. Can anyone resolve?

Let me remind you that the guy does not speak or write Chinese so some characters may be just wrong..

Thanks in advance for your help

    Flex

    Hi flex,

Sorry to disappoint you, because, I’m merely a Canuck and as
such may not qualify for the “Chinese prerequisite :p ” you’ve requested.
But, fear not my friend, because, I’m a Canuck with a babblefish programme installed in my
motherboard. As such, I can positivitly and unmistakably tell you that the
inscriptions means well so don’t unleash those AAM’s just yet :p .

However, I can also tell you that the writing itself is not from this planet.
It is in a language better known as Klingonese. And Klingonese happens to be one
of the most impossible of language to try and decipher. But, :p based on the seriousness
of the writings or inscription :p, I would assume that what it is, is that it’s a
welcome gesture to the Captain of the Starship Enterprise and…

“it says don’t shoot Captain! We don’t mean you harm :p !

Reminds me about – mine is bigger than yours!!!

What else does that remind you Vic? That you’re not going to
take that bull from any ChiCom :p? For crying out loud, what I see him
as saying is simply that it is within proportion to the growth of the Chinese
economy. I mean is the truth really that hard to swallow?

Let me share a story with you and others Tinman. I have a dear friend
from China. In the year 2001, he snuck up to me snickering just like you. He said to me –
“Hey I just read on the internet that India has 5 million cellphone users”.

And, maybe I should also tell you a true story: While enroute to
Wuhan from Shanghai last year aboard China Eastern; sitting right next to me is this young
and vibrant looking South Asian; we communicated; I asked if he’s a tourist; he answered and said:
No! I’m here to learn Chinese and the magics of the Chinese way.

When we parted (he was headed for Xian and I on my river cruise),
and just before we bid each other farewell; he opened up to me and he said: I’m very
impressed with China recent success. I hope India will soon follow!

What I mean to say is this: The proportion of the Chinese wealth
is everywhere. This wealth is reflected not only in the sky lines of Shaghai! It is
reflected in the thousands of miles of super Chinese highways which I dare say America must concede!
It is reflected in the gleeming suspension bridges which appears before your eyes one after another if you
traveres the highways and the byways of China! It is reflected on…

    “the cell phone users
of China which, last I read, has reached
    the 100,000,000 mark.”

Moral of the story – “Keep
looking over your shoulder, friend. We
    are catching up on you”!

That’s where India had its misunderstandings, Vic…

The Chinese, I can vouch, is not in a competition with you. In fact,
what they had hoped for is that you achieve growth independently and sucessfully, on your
own, as is opposed to getting it like a hand out like some nations do.

After all, wouldn’t it be better for China to deal with you
directly than it is for her to deal with an entity that is controlled by
another entity, like that of Korea and Japan for instance?

    Therefore, and once again, Vic:
The Chinese is not in a competition with you. Instead. they hope
for and wishs the best in you.

We had an idea what might happen, but we still didn’t know the
full scale effects of a nuclear detonation. A bunch of geiger counters or whatever
weren’t going to predict the outbreaks of cancer or birth defects.

OC, that’s as if saying that Hitler said that he didn’t know what
the true horrors would be like if say a couple of million of hypnotizing
Jewish women, kids and all, were forced into the gas chamber.

So let me get this straight. The US
government, since it’s inception, has only fought wars and
attacked others based strictly on racism?

That’s unfair, OC. You know, I know, and, most likely plenty of people
know that race was a factor though it might not be the only reason behind it.
I mean why reject it. I mean as I said, it’s human nature and as human beings,
it’s time for us to admit our faults and hopefully adjust our thinkings.

If it was racial we would have just tried to take
over the entire country, to hell with North and South, and
killed people on both sides with equal regularity.

Easier said than done, OC. I mean Vietnam
have pride also and pride is the thing that drives
us to be couragous and to be patriotic.
